Odyssey Front Brake Kit
Heard from somewhere that the 06 Odyssey's front brake kit can be fitted to the 8th gen civic with little or no mod.
Compared to the civic's stock front brake kit, the one from 06 Odyssey has much bigger calipers and rotors. And I think Odyssey has 2 piston per caliper, instead of 1 per caliper for civic. Anyone tried this before? If so, care to share how it's done? |

Thanks for the note. Yes, I do agree with u that fitting the Odyssey's front brake kit to the civic will change its brake biasness. But whether that is a good thing or not, I will need to research more to find out.
If I ever do this upgrade, u can be sure that I will be boosting the rear braking power as well, probably through the use of better brake pads. |

RSX-S calipers are the same so don't waste your time there. As for the Odessy ones, You actually won't overbrake if the pistons move the exact same amount of fluid with the same amount of master cylinder movement. Somebody posted a link up on this forum a while back with a great explaination that you should search for and read. After reading it I gave up on putting bigger brakes on and went with better brakes..!!

You are correct. I assumed (yes ass umed) it was an SI because he wasn't asking about fitting si brakes which would be a logical upgrade for a non SI. I stand corrected. |

lol, yes guys, big brakes are a waste of money. Pads, lines, and rotors are very helpful, but you definitely cannot go wrong with a full front brake kit. The all out stopping power and resistance to brake fade are a lot better. I'll be attempting to swap a set of TL or RL brakes in the next year or so.

You can go wrong, if it throws off your braking balance. That's why I'm not putting this kit on until somebody comes up with a matching rear kit. http://fastbrakes.com/shop/product_i...roducts_id=866 |

I understand where you're coming from, I didn't realize the OP was talking about leaving the stock rear setup. I would at least change the rear pads, rotors, and calipers if I was just going to do the front kit. I'm hoping that I'll be able to swap the full TL or RL brake setup, as I've seen it done on one or two other newer hondas.

I drive an Asia Si Civic. But its totally different from USDM Si. More like the Acura CSX in Canada - comes with K20Z2 engine (155 bhp) and front brake rotor is 282mm, which is bigger than EX's 262mm but smaller than Si' 300mm. Also, no limited slip differentials and no 17"rims (stock is 16"x 6.5). I have thought about upgrading to Si front brakes before, but dropped the idea after reading somewhere in the forum that the huge Si calipers will not clear my stock 16" rims (BTW, is this really true? can anyone verify please?). But I am very sure odyssey brakes will clear my rims, cos odysseys also come with 16" stock rims. Last edited by ipod; 01-30-2007 at 07:11 PM. |
