Right, depends on the dealer. I'd say that most dealers WON'T give you the old parts. That's why they love selling you all these options...they basically get to double dip on profits. They make money off of the part they sold you and they make money off the part they took out from your car. Unless you have it in writing that they'll give you the old parts, they're as good as gone.

Yeah, you can get the suspension done elsewhere, but if you get it done at the dealer before you take delivery of the car, it's all covered in your bumper-to-bumper warranty. That's the nice thing about having your dealer install it.

I don't see how they could legally steal your personal property.. you paid for it, so why would they have a right to keep it?

Why not just order the HFP suspension instead of having the dealer install it right then and there? Bring the package in at a later date and request to have it installed. They should then ask you if you want the old parts back. Tell them yes. Problem solved.

Are you trying to roll it all into your payments?

Just make sure it says that you will get your parts back in the sales slip/contract. That way you have it in writing. Even if you have to write it in yourself before you sign the paperwork. A reputable dealer will have no problems giving you back your parts.

Well, I just installed my hfp suspension on Sunday, and it comes with a sticker you put in the back of your manual. I bought my car in sf and live in LA, so I plan on telling the la hoinda dealer that it came installed on the car

Part of the reason I bought my car where I did was because they offered to give me all my factory parts back when I opted for the HFP PLUS winter tires, and another dealship said they wouldn't give me anything back. When I asked the second dealership, how they could justify me paying for aftermarket parts and not getting the stock parts(rightfully mine). The salesman stated that HFP kit was not a factory option and therefore I should not get the factory parts back I called bull and just walked out the door IMO if a dealer wants to try a screw you on the initial deal, who knows what else they are capable of, and its your responsibility as the consumer use your right and just walk out.

i would take delivery and then have them install the parts later on so that u can request keeping the stock parts. If you have them install them before u take delivery its good as gone. But make sure you have it in writing that the price you paid includes the installation and parts.

It doesn't matter whether you get accessories (HFP suspension IS an accessory) when you buy the car or whether you do it a week after. You paid for a car, and that car came with a suspension. They have no right to steal your original parts when you paid for them to install the accessories (replacement parts) for you, that's outright theft. The only thing I could see was if they worked something out where they bought the stock parts off you in exchange for money off the deal.. read your sales contract closely.

They're your parts... Just like when you order HFP wheels with it... the regular wheels are yours as well.

Unfortunately not all dealers behave ethically, I have met at least three Si owners with HFP kit that did not get they're stock suspension back, two bought from the same dealership I walked away from. Currently at least 1 has gone back a requested the stock rims/suspension with little/no luck. To all potential buyers, make sure you stress this point to the dealership before you make payments, because after your negoitating leverage point goes out the window.

a bit off topic, but since he's trying to roll it into his payments, can he go back AFTER getting the car, having the stuff installed and put em on his payments ???
