Koni Sport adjustable struts are coming for Si

Thought you might all be interested in this info. Straight from the horse's mouth at Koni-NA! Granted, it's a ways down the road, but at least there is a semi-firm date! The Koni Sport "yellow" adjustable struts for 06/07 Si will be out in June or July. The part numbers:

Front Left = 8741-1502LSport
Front Right = 8741-1502RSport
Rear = 8041-1359Sport

Are they single adjustable or double adjustables(compression, rebound independant)? And did they qoute a possible price?

I'm also wondering the exact same thing. Inserts are not the best way to go.

The only information offered to me was that they will be the Sports ("yellows"), which are pretty much all single adjustable.

The independently adjustable compression/rebound Konis are pretty expensive and WAY more than 97% of people will ever need (except those dedicated track hounds). Besides, the double adjustables usually require periodic rebuilds.

As for whether they will be inserts or not, I can't answer that. I'm waiting for a reply from Koni. Chances are that they will be inserts (at least the fronts probably will be), as the EP3 models and other previous Honda models have been inserts.

**addendum: per Stoney Hamilton at Koni-NA, they will be the sports (single adjustable), drop-ins (front only), and custom revalving will be available (at extra cost, of course). Koni specials (slightly softer valving) will be available around the same time**

Misinformation all over this thread.

Koni Yellows are Rebound adjustable only. Unless you get CUSTOM Double Adjustable Koni's, DA, Such as these

Now let me continue, These would have rebound in the normal adjustment location at the top the struts, and there is the extra one at the bottom which adjusts compression, as shown.

I will qoute a wise man again about "pre-built" coilovers

"See, of all the parts your buying that come with a pre-built "coilover" the damper is by far the most important and most expensive piece. And this is where my dislike of "pre-builts" comes from. See, in order to lower costs, they end up using dampers of a more primitive design. you'll notice that most if not all use dampers that adjust both their bump valving and rebound valving with one knob. There's a reason for this, as dampers of this sort are easier to design and manufactur (theres only one set of Valve stacks that need to be turned with the adjuster, Vs ones where you only adjust rebound that have two sets of valve stacks, one that gets alterd by the adjustment knob and one that doesnt). Great for the company as they can sell their "coilovers" for less, bad for tuners because you now have an inferior damper. Granted, these types of dampers will satisfy the needs of your every day street tuner. but for use in compitition..... they hamper your ablity to properly tune the car. Note that this doesnt just go for Megan's and other inexpensive "Coilovers", Tein, BC AND JIC are guilty of such pratices too. not to mention the valving adjustment range tends to be very limited with the "cheep" coilovers.

So, for street cars... sure pre-built coilovers work perfectly fine, statisfy the needs of the consumer and are convieniant."

Edit-Not meant to come off as beeing an DI@K. Just trying to infor people properly, Get teh koni's they are the best IMO.

It really ins't fair of me I come from a road racing/Autoxing backround so I am biased towards truly high performance items. Many of the "pre-build" coliovers will be fine for DD, and people who can't truly handle a car.

Yeah, you only need Konis if you're not a little girl who wets the bed. Only REAL MEN need them. And they make your penis bigger. But whatever, Teins will be fine for YOU GUYS. :P

To add to this...

The Konis will be a full replacement strut up front, and of course will fit all 2006+ Civics (but the Si is the "showcase" model) but my Koni contact just revealed that they still do NOT have the stampings to make them.

Therefore, to everyone here:

DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH, IT WILL BE AT LEAST JUNE OR JULY UNTIL THEY HOPEFULLY HAVE SOMETHING TO MARKET.
