alot of them are lighter because of the aluminum calipers vs. the stock ones. the rotors may be a litle heavier because of their size in some kits but not really significant enough to matter because of the material removed to cross drill or slot them. did you take that into consideration?

i agree that they are not really needed on these cars unless you have some crazy power(which no one really has yet). doing pads rotors and lines will make a huge difference.

people should be more concerned with the weight of their rims.

A lot of them are two peice rotors, with an aluminum center and of course iron/steel rotor. True... the weight is farther out now that the rotor is larger in diameter. Weight is something everyone considers especially when its reciprocating mass. Lighter calipers are only unsprung weight; the weight of the calipers matter a lot less than the weight of the rotors.

A heavy caliper wont make your car feel slower in the straight away, but heavier larger rotors will.

I guess that's why a lot of people favour the 2-piece floating rotors where I come from.

I'm actually looking at getting the Spoon BBK meant for the JDM Accord CL7/CL7R. Over here we've got a lot of folks running their FDs with Euro-R stock brakes because they're a direct bolt-on, but the stock rotors are mighty heavy (can't recall the exact weight right now, but they're 300mm).

Just to let you guys know, the top brake manufacturers who offer the "cross drilled" rotors don't cross drill them. The holes are part of the rotor casting.

Either way, cross drilled doesn't have much real-world utility.

As for brakes from other cars, you'd have to make sure the brake torque is equivalent to the stock Si, or else you'll more than likely see brake distances increases. Bigger doesn't always mean better.
