Any particular reason why you need the stock springs?

But you can't use it without the front crossmember and the rear subframe.

The brakes you can use, the suspension is a no go unless you have the COMPLETE Type R setup.

hmmm doesn't sound worth it...

seems like a lot of work. You could just get a spring/shock combo and ss lines and pads

i already have koni DA on hfp spring but i want a fixed spring with stiffer spring rate (300/350).

i would even prefer the Mugen FD2R spring but i' am realistic...

IIRC the FD2R springs are longer.

You are wanting to do what I have been looking into for the past year or so. I have been in contact with Hypercoil for custom oe style springs in the range of 300/450 lbs/in (or ~5.5/8.0 kg/mm), but it is not cheap. I also want to keep the HFP height, but I also need to contact KONI to see if they can shorten the shafts of the dampers as I want the springs tight during full droop.

I currently have KONI S/A mated to FA5 HFP Springs.

IIRC the dampers are longer, which lead me to believe the spring is also a little longer. I tried to contact a member on here several times regarding information about free length, diameter, photos, etc of the front and rear FD2R springs, but have been ignored at serval attempts.

The custom hypercoils are alot cheaper if you get a batch done, as it is expensive to retool the machine for each coil. 500-2K I was quoted, it all depends on design and such.

Hey Xtreme Thunder, are there any updates on how this turned out?

The angle of the front strut is probably way off and not working with the geometry in mind that both the FD2 strut and the FG2 control arms are designed for.

Just because something physically bolts up, doesn't mean it fits.

Also, I don't believe you.

No, I was wondering about the custom hypercoils. It would be nice to have a linear rate oem style drop spring available other than just the HFP's.

I had done alot of research on this in the past and had many conversations with the guys at Hypercoil and the guys at KONI-na. I had come to the conclusion it would be cheaper to go the ASR (A-Spec Racing) or Redshift route utilizing KONI dampers and Hypercoil OBD coilover race springs. The coilover springs would allow one to choose their vast variety of free length and rates with out being stuck to one rate.

With increasing the spring rate of an oe style drop spring while trying to maintain a certain height (in my case; HFP height), the spring would have needed to be shorter than stock. Witht hat being said, the shafts on the dampers would need to be shortened which added to the cost at about $100/ corner in order to keep the spring tight during full droop instances.
