slightly weird suspension question

So back in the days(90s) I would compromise a lot on what I would do to the car and how it would affect drivability but now that I'm an old fogey I just can't deal with it anymore. So I got the koni/prokit combo and the car was just too low. When four people are in the car it rubs all over the place but the handling was awesome. I want the stiffer suspension, the better handling but I want to lower the car zero inches. Someone just might know of a solution but I have searched high and low without luck.

Have you thought about the HFP? Its OEMish, a Honda product, its barely a drop but enough to look good and makes the car handle well.

If you really want to lower the car zero inches, I say stock was fine and you just need to upgrade your sway bars and tires.

Coil-overs on the highest setting?

Thanks for the replies guys. I got to like the handling of the pro-kit and don't think I could go milder like the hfp(car feels like an suv by comparison with stock back on). I would even be willing to go slightly stiffer than pro-kit. All the coilovers I see have a drop range that starts at an inch unfortunately. GC coilovers usually list a zero drop at highest setting but judging by past reviews that is not true for this application.

i will gurantee the eibach springs do not handle nearly as well as a HFP suspension set up... HFP is not for looks its for performance... the ride height doesn't determine handling characteristics, its your suspensions geometry and how well your struts react with your springs, etc...

Don't do coilovers if your not gonna drop it, thats a great way to waste about $1000 in your case. You have already spent a lot on what you have so I would say stick with your KONIs because those are great shocks, some of the best, and maybe try the H&R OE Sport Spring. They are only rated at a .75 inch drop front and rear which is the lowest I've seen and that way you will only have to buy new springs. If you don't what to do that and are fine with spending extra $ then do what hondagrl said and go HFP with a sway bar. Actually you should get a Progress RSB either way. I think the only way you can have a drop of 0 is to stay stock.

Re: slightly weird suspension question

I got the HFP kit installed on my FA5 a few weeks back and love it. Didn't lower it too much - still got 1.5 finger space between tire and fender. It's alot stiffer than the stock setup. Handles so much better!

KONI/ HFP Springs. (I have that set-up, may be hard to locate HFP springs alone for your model)

KONI/ H&R OE Sport Springs.

Did you mate the KONIs to you stock springs or just went totally back to stock?

HFP springs are most likely the same rate as the Eibach Prokit you were running.

+1 for HFP suspension.

If you havent read the reviews yet, read them. I read them a while back and they made me a believer.

Does the KONI/H&R OE Sport or KONI/Pro Kit perform af well as the HFP suspension.

Koni is a great strut and if properly paired to a spring yes it could be better after you dialed it in. But the hfp is a bunch cheaper and comes already tuned for the spring to strut combination. While it might not be as agressive as the koni setup I am sure it is close.

I don't know the spring rates of the HFP but I kind of assumed they would be softer than the pro-kit. I put the springs back to stock but still have the Konis on as I search for a spring alternative. I already have the rear sway bar. If HFP are the same rates as the Pro-Kit and drop less that might be exactly what I'm looking for? Does anyone already have the H&R OE? Wanna write up a review(none came up in search)?

Someone also suggested I not use coilovers because I don't want to drop, thats why I axed all of those from the list of possibilities except GC which on some applications in the past could go very close to stock height but as stated it is not true for this app(even though they had the same drop range as their past apps on the site but removed all info now).
