RSB help. I am confused.
Here's the deal. It appears to me that bolting on an aftermarket sway bar on an 8th gen Si is complicated. Fitment issues pop up whenever I search, along with end link and bracket concerns. I bolted a Neuspeed bar on my 97 GSR easily and it came with the all the parts needed. The only mod I had to make was trimming the ABS wire brackets. The addition of this bar was an immediate and awesome improvement. Am I missing something here? I want a complete bolt-on kit. I am not looking for a huge diameter bar though. Hmmm.
BTW, I will be installing the HFP suspension kit this spring too. |

Fitment issues of such when you search?
Most popular options: 1. Progress 22mm 2. Eibach 19mm Adjustable. (~35% or ~65% stiffer than stock on the two settings) Upgrading the endlinks are not totally necessary for DD, but the stock ones are tiny compared to Hotchkis, they would only help with rigidy. A must if you were to track the vehicle. I am using stock endlinks ATM. Progress RSB comes with the reinforcement bracket and Eibach RSB does not. Some use the brackets, some do not. If you opt not to install a set, keep an eye on where the RSB connects to the LCA. I am sure you came across that thread where a few were ripping out the endlink from the LCA bracket. For DD, keep an eye out for potential issues, but if you go Progress, install the bracket they supply anyway. A must if you were to track the vehicle. I have Progress RSB, with Corsport reinforcement brackets (before they were supplied with the kit from the factory) Install is simple, if you install it correctly. People that have rubbing issues have installed the RSB up-side-down. Have a can of PB Blaster, and a wire brush to clean the threads as you are backing out the nuts on the endlinks as they are stubborn if rusted a little. The 4 bushing bolts are simple, area could be tight if you don't have the correct tools. Tightening the RSB with the suspension loaded is the better way, you may need ramps if you don't have them. Same with that, some have tightened with load and some tightened with no load. I tightened with load. Make sure you grease the brackets with white lithium grease or equivalent. Mine need regreasing every 6 months or so, as it will tell me in the form of a squeak over every bump; regrease and it will go away until needed again. Any other noises are from improperly tourqing the hardware. RSB will compliment the HFP Suspension nicely. Last edited by Xtreme Thunder; 02-27-2010 at 08:11 PM. |
