Coilovers???

I'm kind of a noob when it comes to suspension so just bare with me. I originally wanted to do a lowering spring/shock/strut set up on my Si. But now I'm thinking about a basic coilover setup. My bigest reason behind this is that i will be able to adjust my ride height in the winter so that i don't bottom out in the snow. I've been looking at some options; skunk2 pro-S, tein basics, Buddy Club N+, and Megan racing's coilovers. I've heard that the skunk2's are pretty stiff/rough (both their lowering springs and their coilovers). Would anyone recommend any of these brands? Or maybe a different option that would work better?

Also with coilovers would I need control arms, camber kits, etc? Basically what else would i need to purchase with my coilovers?

How hard is it to adjust the height of the coilovers? Do you have to take them off the car to adjust the ride height or can you do it with them on the car?

I've also been thinking about getting a polyurethane bushings kit (if they make them for 06+). Would this be a waste of time and money or is it a good idea?

THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

Austin

The BC N+ get the best reviews from members on this site.
I think you can adjust the coilovers on the car but you have to jack up the car.

rori ( f*ck your form ) <3
Depends on how you're adjusting the height. If you adjust using the spring then you just have to take off the wheel ( or not even when doing the rear ) but if adjusting height using the bottom of the strut then you have to take out either 1 bolt for the rear or two for the front.

As for the coils for you, go to a large meet, talk to people running the coils you're interested in and maybe get ride alongs. Thats really the best thing you could possibly do.

From everything I've read the most liked off the shelf coilover kit seems to be the Buddy Clubs. I don't know what your budget is, and don't know if you do any Auto X or track days, but another option I'll give you is the Redshift Koni coilovers. They'll make you whatever you want (for a pretty price). Single adjustable, double adjustable, custom spring rates, etc. You'll definitely need a rear camber kit with any coilover package, and 2 sets of front camber bolts are highly suggested. I don't think there's a full aftermarket bushing kit for our cars yet, but to be honest I don't really know.

I'd like to stay around $1000 for the coilovers. I wouldnt really know what to ask for if i had to order a custom setup from redshift.

When it comes to the camber kits i'm not sure which kind to get. There are the ones that look like a horse shoes and there are the ones that are just extended bolts for the front. And then there are two different styles for the rears too, the "T" shaped ones and the "J" shaped ones. Which kind of camber kits would i need?

thanks guys for all the help

For $1000, I'd suggest joing with the Buddy Clubs. I'm running the Skunk 2 rear camber kit, but I hear the SPC kit is easier to adjust. For the front, all you really need is 2 sets of camber bolts from Ingalls.

buddy club n+ rock!
any coilover that has preload adjustability will be good and for 1000 i would get buddy club n+
and you dont need front camber bolts the n+ already have front camber slots on the spanner that connnects to the knuckle...

pm me and i can help you with some specs for you to set the suspension up like height wise and great preload to keep a comfy smooth ride

Speaking of breaking, I've been told that the N+'s were breaking on rsx's, has anyone heard of this issue on the Si's???

Did they tell you how long before they loosen up? And by how much? Just curious cause megan racing is a close second on my list behind the Buddy clubs.

EDIT: Does anyone know where to find customer reviews? I've been googling for them but havent come up with anything good.

Also has anyone used or know of anyone who has used the K-Sport Kontrol Pro's??? They are a little bit cheaper than the buddy clubs but have pretty much the same specs.

thanks

I've never read anything here about issues with the BC's on the Si.

I would personally pick Pro-C over N+'s

BUT, I would still be pretty happy with the N+'s

The Pro C's are also $400-$500 more than the Buddy Cubs.
