Coil-Overs in Winter

I've heard from someone that having coil overs in an area where there is snow and salt used is a bad idea. I live in northwestern, PA, where there can be a bit of snow and massive amounts of salt used. I heard that these conditions will cause corrosion and make the coil-overs basically useless.

Is this true? and if so is my best choice for a drop the HFP suspension kit, or a set of springs and upgrade the shocks when that time comes?

Thanks

Any pics would be appreciated.

^^^ yeah seriously... i ran coilovers on my dc2 and it was a pain... i had to torch them to get them to crank after the winter... so i slammed the car right to the ground and after a summer of bouncing around on em, i bought the civic

Coilovers during the winter is a non-issue if you choose the right system. While the Skunk2 sleeved coilovers may have had corrosion issues, others may not. I never had an issue with my ground control sleeved coilovers on my old FC RX-7 and they were on the car through 3 winters...they adjusted just fine.

Tein does some impressive corrosion testing on their coilovers. They are submitted to controlled conditions that simulate years of exposure to the elements in a compressed period of time all as a part of their quality control.

So would you say that the Tein coilovers would be the best to avoid any corrosion issues in the future? I'm wondering because this is the first time I plan on doing anything like this, and don't know anyone who has a performance suspension.

Thanks

Edit: After reading through some more posts it seems as if most of the members say that the coilovers are best if you plan to race the car, which I may do at some point in the future, but not yet. It seems as if going with the HFP suspension and installing it myself (be better if i knew someone with a lift) or going with a set of springs and then upgrading the shocks when KONI comes out with some. Now I have to decide which one I want to go with.

Any one have pics of the HFP suspension on 17's or with springs. Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Eventhought i HATE tein.
The higher models are coated to avoid corrosion
however BEFORE ADJUSTMENTS you have to make sure you get all the salt and grim out of the "grooves" in the shaft and should be cleaned thoughout winter

i used to use a toothbrush and "can o air"
