Cusco Type II lower arm bar info

Here are some more pics of the Cusco Type II lower arm bar in addition to the exhaust hanger you need to modify to fit the brace to an SI.

We currently have the only bar in the USA. As you can see, the Cusco piece is a different design than the Tanabe. The Tanabe piece, while well made, hangs very low...presumably to clear the cat shield with room to spare to account for exhaust movement. The downside to hanging so low is that it can scrape over speedbumps and driveways and it may be prone to flex. The Cusco design clears the cat shield and mounts much closer to the chassis to limit flex and maintain body rigidity during the hardest cornering.

As with all Cusco lower arm bars, this Type II lower arm bar is made from tubular high-tension lightweight aluminum and finished in an anti-corrosion paint in the traditional Cusco blue.

As noted, you need to modify the exhaust hanger off the downpipe to clear the front of the bar as this bar is originally intended for the 2006 FD1 Japanese Civic.

We simply took the rubber hanger off and bent the lower hanger-mount to become the upper hanger-mount. Then, we spun the rubber hanger up to hook up to the bent mount. The hanger is hollow so it's not too hard to bend though a little heat may help you. It may not be pretty, but it works...

There is an estimated 8 week waiting period for these bars as they need to come directly from Japan.

i still think that clearence between the cusco unit and the sustec is very close maybe like a 1/2 to 3/4 inch...check out this thread to get an idea of how the sustec unit sits underneath for comparison. here it is: Tanabe Sustec 4-Point Under Braces

if you look at the pic from behing the swaybar mount on the sustec and then look at the pic from sort of the same position from the cusco unit and you can tell yes the sustec does hang a tad bit lower but not by much in my opinion. if you look really close ithink it would be trivial...but hats just my thought. on extremely lowered vehicles say 1.5" or more maybe this would maybe pose a problem if you are not careful, but i think both will do an excellent job of stiffening up the bottom. i believe sickyute has the sustec unit on his ride and he said he has yet to encounter problems with it. might i add he is lowered on megan coilovers w/ a finger gap clearence in the fenders w/ 18 inch wheels which i think is around 1.75' drop approximately which i think is really low.

Honestly, the gap under the cat w/ the Tanabe brace looks to be about 1.5 inches or more from those pics. The Cusco design is totally flat and the way they mount the bar clears the cat without having to space the entire unit down 1.5. Just by looking at it, the Cusco brace should be more functional than the Tanabe and offer more ground clearance but that comes at the expense of having to mod the exhaust hanger as the Cusco piece was designed for the JDM Civic.

We're offering the Cusco brace for $163.00 shipped but there is an 8 week waiting period as it must come directly from Japan.
