suspension question?

and i need to kno right away, cause im going to buy my suspension soon
but im thinking of buying a full suspension, and i was wondering if it is true that if you make your suspension stiff really makes a difference speed wise.

Thanx

handling yes, speed no... but better handling = more speed around corners

A well tuned suspension will definately help your launch at the 1/4 mile, but if you want better times with spending less, than get things that will help more. For example, I/H/E, Forced Induction, Nitrous Oxide, Stickier tires or drag radials, and lose weight to name a few. I could really care less about running the 1/4 mile, I think tuning your car to run a road course or autocross is a lot more important, but to each his own. With my opinions aside, hope this helps.

a lot of people seem to like the tein coilovers

you know what sucks though, i bought tein s-tech springs, cambers front and back, paid for shipping and brokerage, install was quoted at 550 for SPRINGS ONLY, cambers are a seperate job and figured out i could've gotten coilovers instead.

bummer.

Don't blow money on parts that you don't know how they work. Stiffer doesn't always mean better; there are a lot of factors that weigh into how well your car performs.

If you're getting adjustable coilovers, it should only be because you want to tune specific aspects, and know enough that you'd know how you want to take advantage of them. Simply making the ride "stiff" doesn't make it handle better. High damper compression resistance makes for a bumpy ride, for example, while soft damper makes the car bouncy. Top it off, damper impacts the spring rate, which impacts body roll, brake dive, etc. Too high of a spring rate and the lack of body roll will make the car hard to control on bumpy or poorly maintained roads.

If stuff I mentioned above doesn't make much sense, then don't waste all that money, and invest in modest upgrades that you know will help out. Eibach pro springs, I/H/E, reflash, etc. are a good place to start out.

the thing about replacing just the stock spring with the progressive ones is that your stock shocks are not up to the task of an aftermarket spring w/c means the shocks will worn out faster, hence, there's a good possibility of blowing the whole suspension up.
i would suggest combi of aftermarket shocks/struts/spring or better yet a full coilover.
hope this helps. goodluck.

If you do just springs I definitely recommended that you cut the bumpstop to save your shocks. With my setup I cutted the bumpstop and sometimes still get the shock hitting the bumpstop.
