Finding springs for HFP suspension

I've had the HFP suspension on my car for about a year now, and I've been wanting to get the car a bit lower, right now I have about 2 inches worth of gap. I live in New England (Massachusetts) and I want to lower the car a bit more, but still have a decently smooth ride, plus I don't want to damage my car. I'm wondering if a good progressive spring (paired with my hfp suspension kit) with a gap of about 1 inch maybe a hair more would be reasonable to dd.

Maybe some suggestions what spring to go with my hfp kit. For some reason I think something like progress springs may be to low with the hfp shocks and struts and maybe the Eibach prokit may be what I'm looking for.

thanks in advance

a few people on this site run prokits with hfp, i personally havent run into anything else, did you try searching? try google if you dont find anything, search on forums can be annoying and unhelpful

Man! I am in the exact situation as you! I read about people using pro-kits with HFP suspension, but I haven't been able to find any pictures.

If we put the pro kit on our cars with HFP suspension are we going to need camber kits also?

The thing is the shocks and struts on the hfp kit are a bit shorter than the stock suspension, and from what I have read all the springs are I'm assuming lowering from stock height meaning if I put springs on the hfp kit like progress springs I'll be slammed. I just want to have an inch or a bit more of gap, I don't want to be rolling fenders etc.

Pics would be nice.

Thing is I searched and could not find a conclusive answer to how low things would get with different spring setups with the hfp shocks and struts on the car.

Pro-kits are a very mild drop so I think that's what most people choose. I agree that I wanna see pictures and try to figure out if camber kits are needed before choosing though.

You worded your question wrong.

You question should state: Why do people use camber kits?

Quote:
People who get camber kits either:

1. Want better handling characteristics, so they dial in a more aggressive custom alignment. Some even add to a stock suspension, for that same reason. Get a custom alignment to dial out some of the factory under-steer. This will reduces inside tire tread life. Frequent tire rotations suggested.

2. Want stock alignment specs so tires wear as if still running stock suspension.

3. Using a rim width and offset that forces one to need to run more negative camber.

4. Combination of 1 and 3.

Ok then...

If we put the pro kit on our car with HFP suspension are we going to need camber kits "so tires wear as if still running stock suspension"?

We have a FA5 that has hfp springs and skunk 2 shocks and struts and it now sits lower about 1/2 inch than the HFP full set up.

See reason #2 above for reasons people run camber kit(s).

You will be shortening the life of the HFP dampers if you go this route. If they leak and become extremely bouncy because the dampers can no longer control the oscillations of the springs, replacing the HFP dampers without buying the whole kit from Honda is ~$850. Just a heads up. No telling how long any damper, or EVEN coilover dampers at that will last.

Good info, but is it safe to say that assumption holds true even with the stock si suspension if you were to just put lowering springs on that set up. I thought that since the hfp kit has shorter struts and shocks that there would be a lower chance of blowing those parts up than using my factory setup since with the stock components technically the shocks and struts will have to sit lower all the time than if i used the hfp parts. Just a thought out loud I guess.

If anything I still have my stock set up in a box down stairs, I just felt there was less risk of damage due to running a shorter spring with the hfp kit, due to the shorter shocks.

i have stechs with my hfp suspension, i think these springs very well match the dampening rate of the hfp, like same stiffness. hfp suspension supposed to be 15-25% stiffer i believe and stechs are 15-18% stiffer if i did the math correctly

Nice, and are those 17" or 18" wheels. It's hard to tell how much space there is in that last pic.
