Mugen sport suspension Installed
Hey people........There isn't much out there for this suspension so I'd like to share some pictures and feedback. Hope this helps some of you out. I had problems finding info on this kit so maybe these pictures will help any of you out.
This kit is supposed to be different from the mugen si's kit. It lowers just a hair over an inch, comes with everything you need, even new bolts.... I mean all new bolts for what ever parts you need to take apart to do the job. (all honda parts) The struts/ shocks are revalved showa casings painted grey. New mugen front upper mounts new rear mount bushings, the only bushing you need to reuse is the rear upper strut bushings. This kit is legit!!!!!!!! Lowering height is just perfect!!!!! I would like it lower but for the ride quality, suspension travel and handling it offers...... I'm happy I didn't purchase coil-overs. I can't explain oversteer or under steer but for What I would probably do, this kit is awesome. I has only been on for 3 days and I don't expect the height to settle anymore. Very happy with my investment! the only problem I have is a creaking noise in the left rear, But it's more than likely from my skunk upper control arms which I will remove and reinstall my stocks, plus my lower spring insulators are torn from my sportlines I recently had on (which were very poorly manufactured and had clunking in the front/ rear springs digging into and cutting spring insulator. Well hope this helps any of you, I don't have much technical handling info to give but just to say I'm very happy with it, If you have any questions let me know. Oh last complaint.......$1400 and they didn't even throw in any Mugen stickers???????? But thanks to Scott at Kingmotorsports for the awesome king T-shirt. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stay tuned Volk RE30s coming from Japan!!!!!!! and mugen window visors back ordered from King. $1400 is kinda stretching it, 1100 or so would have been better priced. It would be better if the dampening were adjustable. But if you were to get all the peices from honda for a stock civic si, Meaning like all the hardware, bump stops, dust boots, mounts, etc. It would probably add up to just as much.
I opted full racing coilovers but didn't want a harsh ride and the tein flex is like 2200. Plus in wisconsin they use a crap ton of salt and would probably eat up the adjusting sleeves. 1400 is i guess fair, the over all ride is very good. It is actually smoother than the stock suspension becuase the spring rates were reduced, the valving is tightened so you do notice it to be stiffer. It almost feels like the faster you go the smoother is gets. I was doing 90 mph at one time and it felt like 65. |
