depends on the surface of the rotor. if it has tons of deep grooves in it then yes.

because if they are warped, the amount it would take to resurface them could take the thickness down to an unsafe level.

I have heard that its not the best to resurface at all. So I just buy new discs when I do the pads. Its not like we change the brakes THAT often. Might as well do it all in one swoop and not worry about it for a while. Plus discs do not cost THAT much.

If you just resurface, there is obviously less mass in the disc. Less mass means it will be more prone to heating up faster/ hotter meaning it could lead to being warped again, faster/easier which can eat up your pads. F-it No thanks, I would rather spend my energy on mods then maint. When I do them I do pads and discs and am done with it.

I could be wrong, and I am sure I will get flamed, however thats how I do my breaks and my spin on the matter.

no. Every rotor has a minimal thickness spec. Most OEM rotors can be resurfaced several times before they will get below that spec. Usually, resurfacing or (cutting, as we call it) rotors only requires taking a few thousandths off.

I reccomend resurfacing the rotors any time you will be putting new pads on that way you can have perfect coverage from pad to rotor for the break in period.

using a dial indicator and checking your measurements to factory specs. If it's warped more than the factory limit then resurface as long as you don't go close to minimum thickness.
