"oem" big brake kit

my friend has a Jetta VR6 s/c'ed

and he's got a big brake kit. it's uses an OEM Pads and Caliper but uses bigger rotor. what it does is, it relocated the caliper further out, with bigger rotors, it has more surface area to grab.

does anybody make kit like this for civics yet?

I thought that looked pretty cool and a cheap way to go big brake!

here's a pic of it

Many choices, but the 2nd one would be the easiest.

I don't think it actually gives more area to grab since you are using factory sized pads and calipers. What it does is give you more material to disipate the heat quicker. Since it takes longer to make a complete circle after it hits the pads it gets a longer chance to cool down.

Powerslot has them and so does Wilwood (fastbrakes).

Another option is the Acura RSX A-Spec brakes.

Thought A-Spec was only an aesthetics-like option.

Given enough time, someone will figure out a DIY on how to install Ridgeline brakes on the Civic.

On the otherhand, the Si's brakes are a decent size already. With some performance pads and rotors, SS lines and better fluid, bigger M/C, it will stop even better then stock.

It looks like they are just slotted and x-drilled. From what I understand this does absolutely nothing...except look cool and wear out your pads faster....How come I feel a fight coming on?

"They" say slotted wears out your pads faster, but it keeps the pad surface fresh. Crossdrilled can be a misnomer. Quality C/D are actually not drilled, but cast with the holes in them already. The cheaper ones are drilled and they can warp over time.

Like I mentioned above, some quality upgrades to the stock brake system will be more then good enough.

+1. I only want a rotor upgrade for aesthetics. Everything else works just fine :)

You know I am gonna get some Brembo blanks. My first thing is I am gonna do is paint the outer edges grey, so they wont RUST. I am pleased with the stock brakes.

Also consider that the big-brake kits will add unsprung weight. Bigger rotors and calipers will weigh more then the smaller stock sized parts.

^^exactly and 1lb of unsprung weight is equal to like 1.4lbs of sprung weight. Oh well if you got the power to make up for it i guess its ok but IMO it is an aesthetic upgrade just like skittles said earlier
