Damn, I wish I had the place to do something like that. I have mounds of time, but nowhere to do it.

looks nice, what paint did you use? g2 or duplicolor, and how did you go about painting underneath those two clips on the front calipers?

I used the G2 kit... really good paint in my opinion. Not that i have anything to base that on haha. As far as getting under the clips, I used a really tiny brush that i borrowed from my sister. As far as the license plate goes, im not really worried about it. tons off ppl see it on the road every day haha. Thanks for all the comments though. I'm really happy with how it came out. Oh and btw, the jack that comes with the car sucks. I need to buy a real floor jack lol.

Oh and on Galaxy Grey, I would personally go with black calipers. :)

Oh and to the person who had mention to how stiff the frame of the car is (some other thread)... That person wasn't kidding. At some point i realized that my car was only resting on 3 of the 4 jackstands... and when i shook the car, it still didnt move haha. I was about to lower it again anyways, so i didnt bother fixing it. But yea... stiff frame :)

The 8th pic in the album looks like your car's hovering. Sweet deal on those calipers.

so can u generally descirbe the steps once u jack ur car and unmounted wheels?

what kinda tape u use to block paint? did u use a paint brush? how many layers u did? how long does it take for each layer to dry and repaint again if u had to repaint?

p.s. where can u get this "G2" kit?

To start off, you can get teh G2 kit from TireRack... Link is below:

G2 Caliper Paint System

There are actually instructions included and they are pretty good. It goes something like this...

NOTE 1: Brakes need to be cool when doing this. It's best to leave it over night.
NOTE 2: Do not get any paint on your disks. Make sure they are taped off!!

(1) Clean the calipers with the supplied brake cleaner. Just spray it on, it's pretty simple.

(2) Tape off the disks and stuff with painters tape. I'm not sure what it is actually called but it's basically a special masking tape that leaves no residue. The paint is put on

(3) You mix the reactor with the paint and stir with the provided stirring stick . Give that 5 minutes, and stir again.

(4) Now with the provided paint brush, I just put on a good coat. They say put in a thin coat but it's pretty thick paint. It goes on really nicely though. I used a really small paintbrush that i got from my sister to get between some of the clips and things. One thing to keep in mind is that even if it doesnt come out perfect (i.e. you get a dot of red paint on a silver clip) it really doesn't matter cuz when you stand back you can't see it haha. Trust me, i'm no artists. You would have to take off the wheel and put ur face right up to it to tell. :)

(5) Once the first coat is on, give it 15 minutes, then apply a second coat. Then you just let it dry for 2 hours before putting the wheels back on.

(6) after the 2 hours goes by, put the wheels on and lower the car back down. Now you must wait an additional 22 hours (total of 24hrs) to give the paint time to fully harden.

(7) now take it for a drive!

I hope I hit everything. But like i said, it comes with these directions and they're pretty good. :)

I'm not gonna lie, I've never been a big fan of the painted caliper look, but it does look sweet on your car, probably since the fiji blue goes good with the red color....nice job.

Thx for all the comments everyone :) I'm real happy with it. I have to agree that the red just goes good with the blue. Besides, the weathered gray look jsut wasn't doing it for me haha. Only thing is, the rear calipers are so small... they're like Baby Calipers. Now the redness just pronounces that lol. I wish someone would come out w/ some decent Big Brake kits. I don't need them for the performance, I just like how they look :) I also want the front and back to be the same size. It just looks so unproportional lol.
