The sustec is maybe 2 thick at the most -- in most sections way thinner then that --- anyway, I dont see how any bar would be 2" more clearance then the sustec brace as thats the thickness of the brace at its largest mounting point.

The Sustec unit hangs a lot lower than the Cusco unit does. The Cusco does not hang down below the cat itself, but stays flush with the chassis. It works for all chassis, but with the Si you have to modify a exhaust hanger.

Now, on the 1993 Civic autocross beast I had, yes, braces were a necessity, especially after I started running custom rate Konis and really high spring rates along with gigantic sway bars.

In short... Money spent on one of these Tanabe pieces should be considered a cosmetic upgrade, not a performance one.

So you're saying it won't help with cornering and only looks good if the car's jacked up?

I would 110% disagree. I also do SCCA Time Trials (non solo) Events, AutoX, NASA HPDE4/TT, etc.

I have the extremely stiff and stout unibody ep3 -- every bracing modification I have done has been VERY much something I can feel while driving the car. Without a doubt, the braces are effective.

Installed

I installed this on my 06 EX Sedan today. Really easy install. Haven't taken it for a ride yet. Put it up on low ramps in the front. Removed the six bolts. Installed brace. Simple as that.

I also installed mine over the weekend, it took me 30 minutes with one jack stand on a lowered car and it was raining out. I can't exactly say that I'm 100% pleased with the results. I can honestly say that I didn't notice a change in the amount of body roll. I still notice an issue with the rear rolling when taking high speed turns or lane changes, I'm sure this issue will be fixed with the progress rear sway bar. IMO if I were to choose which suspension mod to do first between rear sway and Tannabe underbrace. I would have definetely bought the Progress bar first and if I still wasn't please I would have done the Tannabe. I will throw in one positive comment for the Tannabe, for kicks I was showing my friend so ebrake drifts, and I notice that it is far more easier to control the car while the rear is swung out. Before I would notice that you would have to fight the car when exiting the drift, now the car comes out of the drift with ease.

Body roll isn't going to be changed with a single, aluminum chassis stiffener. All it is going to do is stiffen up that general of the chassis which is already pretty stiff to begin with. The suspension is ultimately going to have to be up to that task whether it be with lowering springs, coil-overs, or adjustable shocks/struts.

A sway-bar will help make the car easier to move side-to-side, but once again the suspension needs work as well. A sway-bar is designed to COMPLIMENT the suspension itself, not the other way around.

As far as the retarded e-brake ass-dragging goes; Keep it on the track, and never call FWD e-brake pull a drift.

Because I am soo used to a heavy tank 72 Torino, the stock handling of the Si is enough for me. For now... UNTIL THE MOD BUG HITS ME!!
