So yeah, i just installed eibach pro kit springs, and after 50 miles or so, they now make an insanely annoying metal on metal tap/clunk noise when doing city driving. No noise at all on the freeway. Its only coming from the rears, doesn't look like the rear even has bumpstops so don't think its that.
I pulled the rear wheel off again today to look around and everything is put together correctly. All I can think of is the spring must be bouncing up and down too much on since it is shorter than the stock one. I didn't forget to put the rubber pieces back on the top and bottom of the spring either.
Anyone with similar symptoms know how to solve this one? Its extremely annoying, more than just a creek here or there.
THanks
I have Zeel function T coilovers on my EVO X, and for the first few weeks they clunked and banged over the slightest pot-hole. Now they barely make a peep.
You should try to give it some break in time, although I've never heard of people having noise problems with just springs.
Yeah my friends integra had coilovers that creeked all the time, this just sounds soo much worse, a metal on metal clunk. Ill give it some time and see if it gets better though.
If it doesnt, ill try removing the struts, cutting the rear bump stops, and installing those new little metal sleves that eibach provided.
People in the DIY spring install thread said these werent necesary but maybe it would help.
It sounds like you did everything correctly but something is not right. Can you go over exactly what you did? Or provide pics? Some people do get like a creaking noise from the springs but nothing like metal clunking.
same here, after 10k miles my shocks are very tired in the rear as well lol

well kinda same problem i herd a clunk maybe once or twice only when going over big bumps. but its gettin alittle bouncy after 10k
well the noise seems to have gone away for now. Its been a few days since ive heard anything, so maybe the springs just took a while to settle, either way, if the noise comes back ill report but so far looking good!
im hearing the spring noise too but this is on HFP. it only have once or twice a day, early in the morning, and leaving work. everything else is normal. i hoping it's the spring settling in. im going to go out and torque the front. the noise is not loud either.
pro kit is a VERY mild spring and as stated on the box is designed to work with the stock shock. Now, this doesnt mean I expect my shock to last the life of the car or anything, i'm sure it going to wear out a bit quicker, but my car has 3500 miles on it, and i don't feel the need to upgrade my shocks anytime soon.
It's your car do whatever you like. I'm just giving you a suggestion. As for me I rather take care of it now rather then dealing with the problem later cause it's my only dd. Therefore without it = no work. As long as your aware of the problem then it's all good.
I had these on my TEG and got the same rattle and even a clunking sound. The stock shocks couldn't handle the pressure. I think I had 30,000 or 50,000 miles on them when I dropped. AFter I swapped out the shocks the clunks and rattles were gone and the car was amazing.
I had my pro-kit installed a few weeks ago. I only hear some slight creaking while going into a driveway but that is it. Other than that the pro-kit has been awesome.
