Hfp brake kit
As we all know the stock si brake suck. They maybe fine for normal street driving or one time use at speed but thats it. Well i upgraded to the hfp kit from college hiils honda for 550$. I'm here to report after 320 mile at max speed at VIR the HFP kit was very good and the comments of the instructors who drove and evaluted my setup was that the brakes functioned really well. There was only slight loss of brake performance by the end of the 30 minute run. Longer stints on the track >45 minutes would probably require brembos because my rotors were up to 800 degrees f.

HFP brake rotors suck if you want to stop under extreme circumstances...then again im not your average civic. i have photos of the discs with heat spots and warpping as i took them off. i only had them on for about 7 months. I went with R1 concepts and they are amazing.ill post them up in a bit stay tuned

Here are the new ones. I had the cryo frozen to make them harder so it would not the heat spots and warping wouldn't happen.
![]() Passenger side ![]() Drivers side stop alot better less noise, look better and and only 330 with pads with the cryo treatment and no rust Last edited by BobbySi; 11-20-2008 at 04:42 PM. |

There are reviews from a year ago on how the HFP are basically cosmetic, and aren't really track worthy. If you want to get good info on brakes, then post your questions to Moose in this thread. He's the most knowledgeable guy on this forum when it comes to brakes. Brake options In my experience, all you need are good pads, stainless lines, and hi-temp fluid. The stock rotors are good enough. Talk to Moose.

I apreciate bobbysi's post, he has a better option for less money and he would know because he tried them both. As for the hfp kit I'll still say it's much better than stock but apparent one can do even better for less. As for the hfp rotors being basically the same as stock, if you held both in your hands you would know that's completely false. Secondly you need more mass in your rotors than stock if you repeatably use them or they become overheated and don't work very well.
As for geezersi, the only review in that tread read like this,"I went to college hills honda and compared the pictures real close and there is no difference between stock and hfp brakes" I'm not looking for advice, I have brakes, they work very well for my needs, that was my opinion and the opinion of two professional drivers, while running VIR. I acknowledge there are better brakes out there and you would need them if you were doing more than 30 minute runs at VIR or had 300+ hp. Last edited by El_mahone; 11-21-2008 at 06:51 PM. |

I'm out of Richmond, and I was at Vir with "trackdaze", you can go put with any of the clubs, it would be great to have a fellow 8th gen there, I'll be back next chance I get. Ps I smoked an evo8 and an m3(but the m3 had a female driver so that might not count)
