Lowering + Winter Season = ?

I do realized this was discussed here, but, it wasn't really what I was looking for.

What I'm looking for is people's personal experience with winters and lowering. Were you guys literally plowing through everything and scraping your underbodies, or did you actually manage? I live in Ottawa so we do get snow storms from time to time - last winter sucked, we had a hell of a lot.

And lastly, how did your aftermarket suspension parts look after a winter.. did they survive many years, or ...?

Thanks in advance.

My integra was lowered 2.25 inches and I drove it all year round. Yes you do plow through alot of snow but the worst is when you hit frozen slush that will really mess up the car. But a mild drop like 1" or 1.5" won't be too bad. If you are reallly worried about it buy coilovers and just raise the car back up in winter. As far as how they hold up i would imagine you get what you pay for, buy cheep ass no name parts and expect them to look like shit buy good stuff and get underbody car washes and you should be good to go

Im also wondering the same thing, as i live in edmonton, alberta and am soon lowering the car. Although i THINK i should be pretty safe, as im only getting h-techs that lower less than an inch, so all should be okay!

i had ground control coilovers in a white 00 coupe and that was a pita. after the one winter the locking nut froze and got stuck i had to drill it out. i traded w my brother for is 00 civic hb. i had nuespeed sport springs 16" rims and original mugen lip. it gave me a 1.5" drop and had no problems when i did drive it during the winter. either way my sugestion is to get a mild drop and u be ok. o and def winter tires. i still had summers on mine.

I live in Montreal, I have a lowered 95 Integra also, the Tein S-Tech with 2.5 inches drop in front and 1.7 inches in rear, I drove it all the winter and no problems at all, just have to take care on the roads and don't put body kits or lips during winter.

well i heard coilovers aren't the way to go during the snow... all the salt and sand will get caught in them.

i'm going for hfp suspension... but waiting till after this winter atleast.

agreed with winter tires... definately a great investment... if you have summers your asking for trouble even all seasons aren't that great.

Tires make a huge difference believe me.

from my experience, -1" lowering is fine, just remove lip spoiler if you can.

-2" is where things start to get a little diffcult, make sure you remove your
lip.

-3" is where things start falling off your car. if you haven't removed your
lip, don't worry it's gone... also, you'll notice that you belly bottom very
easily as your tires are following the packed snow from the car infront
of you, but obviously your car's chassis has a hard time clearing the
non packed snow.

my recommendation? get a beater.

I'd like to lower my baby, too, but I'm concerned about Vermont and potholes as big as mini coopers.....
