see this is where i kinda messed up on my suspension because
i decided on 18" rims which even with an Eibach lowering kit (1") will have the possibility of rubbing the rear tires (40 series) which in turn is okay to me for this reason. The stock shocks are actually good enough to keep with stock coils as the stock car handles pretty damn good to me, but if you wanted to upgrade a little would mean replacing the bushings (EnergySuspension) when they come up with a kit for the car (in my case 06' civic DX-G) and even further by replacing the stock EX sway bars to Si ones as I read in an article here on 8thCvic. After this the car would be well behaved in my opinion. .02

its safer the smaller your wheels are.
And tires have something to do with it.. some brands rub some dont.. but if you relaly wanted a drop Id get hfp suspension.. its only a 1" drop.. but I think it looks best.. lower than 1" looks tacky imho.. look for cookstar's thread @ his car its pretty :] |

If i decide to get some springs like some Tein springs for $300 or so and put them on my stock SI shocks like everyone else is doing, will the springs cause my stock shocks to deteriorate at a faster pace? if so how fast?
Why would anyone spend $600 on HFP suspension when aftermarket springs are just $200-300? Is it better somehow? Thanks. |

The HFP suspension includes dampers. Not just springs. Technically, your springs shouldn't sag for at least a year, but there are a lot of different variables that could make your shocks deteriorate faster or slower. Road conditions, driving habits, amount of weight consistently in the car, etc. |

well i use a full coil over suspension from Tein SS, my best guess if your buy new spring dont use the factory shock cause that oem shock is for oem spring cause it was design for their purpose and you prolbally have to replace your shock frequently and if you use a aftermarket spring like eibach or ground control go with aftermarket shock like koni yellow ... cause you gotta remember the car is over $20,000.00

To my knowledge there are not any aftermarket shocks/struts available yet. I know personally I intend on running my Eibach Sportlines springs with OE shocks until they blow and then I'll replace the OEs with something better or just upgrade the whole suspension and sell the Eibachs at that time.

I dont think a drop of 1.4inch with the tein s is going to cause your shocks to wear out substantially quicker. Sure there is more stress but with a drop of 1.4inch i dont think it will make that big of a difference. Just watch out for the huge pot holes and bumps and you should be fine.

I ran S-techs on my lude for a good 2 years before there was even a sign that my oe sticks needed to be replaced. Personally I think you'll get about 3/4 the life out of your oe stick on just a spring drop of 1.4'' anything more than that and its less for sure
