I think people should start out with a S/C, then, if they aren't satisfied, sell it and go turbo. It seems some get addicted, while others are more than happy with what they have.
It appears that superchargers retain most of their value when sold used, so you wouldn't lose much money there. |

i don't see my car failing emissions. they never get on it hard enough to go out of closed loop so you won't see boost and i doubt you will fail.
you could put in stock injectors and run the stock map for the smog day. as long as you don't boost it should be fine. i'm probably jsut going to try to pass as is and see what happens before i try all that though. |

I love my s/c. I would never go back! I just got tuned and all I can say is that the car should have come from the factory like this. I ended up with 296 hp & 200tq wich is more than enough for me (for now). If you are worryed about that not being enough you can always get a k24 bottom down the road.

I think the only people that regret it are those who wanted more power from the get go but ended up buying an S/C for some reason.
I've had my S/C on for quite some time now. (Since the stage 2 came about.) There is not one day, not one time I get in my car and drive it that I feel I want more. The 300WHP whereabouts is more than enough power for me. I just do not feel the need for anymore power with the type of driving that I do. (To and from work, occasional meet, occasional track session.) I know many people are infatuated with the blow off valve sound, but me - the nice whine of the supercharger is much more fitting. My car is finally being tuned the day after tomorrow. I can't wait. My build will finally come to fruition in it's entirety... (And yes, one day a K20/24 mix may ensue.. shh don't tell the girlfriend!) Last edited by keefer; 01-24-2010 at 04:18 PM. |

I love my JRSC. Ive been S/C since mid Nov., and every time I drive my car I get a rush. I still look for excuses to take "my baby" out for a blast.
If you have a track car.....go turbo. If you're into numbers and the whole bragging rights thing......go turbo. But realistically, any more than 300whp on a daily-driven FWD car is OVERKILL. Daily-driver = Supercharger I have to admit, I orignally got drawn in to the 350-400whp turbo thing. The thought of a 400+whp civic had me foaming at the mouth. LOL. But money was why I went S/C. It was a blessing in disguise. I cant imagine any more power. 300whp/200tq (or anywhere close) is a handfull on the street. Last edited by Old School FA5; 01-25-2010 at 12:05 AM. |

Trust me, after you get your ass handed to you by something you felt that shouldn't have you'll be digging around the turbo section REAL fast lol.
260whp seemed to be the magic number for stage 1. 260 give or take. |

Seems to me one really needs to their research before dropping thousands in an area that may not be satisfying. And by research I mean reading the 8th of course but riding in turbo and sc'd cars of other members. Numbers on a screen are one thing, feeling smooth torque or tire-shredding torque in real life is another.
I've been in both and for my driving needs I will go supercharge. |
