i don't have enough time (English research paper) right now to look everything up, but the best and most popular places to stay are either in the french quarter or they have some nice hotels on Canal. There's obviously no end of motels and such but i guess if i'm going to visit some place, especially if i haven't been there since i was a kid, i'd like to stay someplace where they DON"T let the guy next door keep you awake all night. After staying in motels during our evacuation, i can tell you that they also tend to use fragrances sometimes in the rooms. The problem is that they use like 2.5 cans of the stuff and you get a headache as soon as you walk in.

Your best shot is checking out nola.com.
On the subject of age...i'm guessing if you're old enough to drive a car there shouldn't be many problems.

i actually have a fabulous camera with just about every adjustment available at the time of manufacture (also 40+ years old) but i cannot use it as it need to be completely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled, something i certainly am not going to attempt. It's called a Kodak Retina IIIc and is also the most beautiful camera in my collection. I wouldn't mind a dSLR, but for now all i want is something that takes pictures without dropping random pixels.

i guarantee my Canon would never be able to take shots like those. I could, but not the camera. I think i'll bring a roll of color for my argus after all.
BTW: i have a hi-res flatbed scanner so don't think that just cuz i'm shooting film i won't be scanning every one of those shots (the good ones anyway). The only drawback to the Argus is that you have to focus it manually and its a rangefinder design.
Wikipedia.org|Rangefinder Camera
While i love the design and how it works, it does not lend to quick focus times, especially on moving targets. I'll have to educate a passenger on how to use it or let someone drive while i shoot.
