I'm going to go check out the beach on my way home from classes today and see what condition it's in. Is anyone interested in that location? I think i said before that we could fit around 110-120 cars in the east lot alone but even though there's no little pavilion thingys and such, i think a beach is a much better place for a BBQ.
BTW: I found the water quality reports. They're here:
Lake Pontchartrain Water Quality Report
and they're updated weekly. Interestingly enough, for the 2/12/08 testing, Pontchartrain Beach has the lowest bacterial count by far of the ten sites tested.

I don't want to be too far off from the cars. Honestly, that is where we are all going to gather anyways.

I just went out today and checked it out. There's not much beach left since Katrina and the parking lots are way too far off. Scratch that.
I do feel though that the place is a very valuable asset to the community but it just needs a little help. If you look at that sat photo i posted before, you can see the beach's previous extent. it essentially arched from the rock jetty on the left to the one on the right and encompassing the two middle jetties. Now, obviously you can't just pump more sand in from offshore like on the Gulf Coast, but considering its potential i think that it warrants a second look. I mean, people were already using it again before Katrina during the summers and the water quality reports make people a little more comfortable. Plus, there's not alot that needs to be done aside from demolishing the crumpled roller coaster building, pulling up the concrete pads that supported the sky ride, and either removing or restoring the boardwalk.

i don't care where it is or if it's chips, a soda, and a bolonga sandwich, my car stays within sight. don't trust asshole vandals and thugs to see abunch of cars of the same make all together just to have them key it or throw a bottle at the windshield. seen it happen before. if it was a 'safer' city then i wouldn't mind walkin away. see, i'm frum the kuntry.

i know what you mean. The second week i had my car, someone backed into it with a trailer hitch receiver and left a nice square-shaped stamp on the bumper that's still there, then some old lady in a cadillac backed into me and dented the hood the next week.

i don't work @ team Honda anymore, but I called Shane(GSM) and he said if it is on a Saturday that we could have it at Team Honda it would just need to be planned out as far as date and time, I don't know if they want to do a poker run again or not someone would need to contact the GSM( Shane) to see what he would allow. They have PLENTY of parking space, even in the back of the lot b/c the collision center was relocated. HE said some time in March or April would be fine. Again someone who has everyones contact info or a good way to set this up, you just need to call Team and ask for Shane. What do you yall think? B.R. or N.O. ? Also, great idea to have the S2k club out there too...

After talking to Korey today I was thinking that this would be a good idea. For one, this way the dealership could handle the food end of things and have a nice sized tent like the one from the Civic vs Scion challenge. Also there is an enormous amount of space on the side/rear of the dealership since they moved the collision center to a different location. Although, the lakefront offers a nice scenery that can't be matched by the Team location. Ultimately, we would have to contact the GM and see what day this could be held. But as for now, should we save Team Honda for the Civc vs Scion II or have our meet there, grated that they supply the food and stuff? I really don't care just as long as we have a meet

So what is the consensus?
I would like it either way, as long as we're not in the same place for too long. Gotta get some cruising in too so i can hit that
hahhah
