My thoughts exactly... I guess we will have to decide what to do about the food then... maybe it could just be a B.Y.O.F.

i say near the point. kbl is too crowded sometimes during the day and no one ever goes to bonnabel anymore.

Bonnabel i find is where everyone goes with their family from metairie. I ride my bike out to the lake on bonnabel for example. It's also very small compared to the Kenner Lakefront...probably a quarter or a fifth the size, maybe less. I've never been to the New Orleans lakefront unless we're talking about lakeshore drive, in which case i have a question. Do they still close it at night?

BTW:
I don't know if its still there, but there was a white sand beach where pontchartrain beach used to be and there was a great grove of oak trees with concrete pads scattered about i think it was pre-katrina. I always thought it would be fun to hold something there (family thing like Thanksgiving or something to that effect) cuz the pads are perfect for setting up tables and such. The only problem is the cars would have to stay in the parking lot.

I was thinking about the area thats close to UNO's campus I think its lakeshore dr... I was thinking about the same area where they hosted the huge tuner meet last year. It has a huge parking area then theres enough grass and hills to have a tent and stuff to cook

Pontchartrain Beach is at Lakeshore Drive and Elysian Fields. The only sat image i could get looks like either it was taken not too long after Katrina or they haven't even attempted to clean the beach up. Either way, the beach is still there.
Here's the pic.

One of us would have to go make sure its reopened to the public.

Good weather+sand=fun of all sorts (volleyball, sandcastles for the kids if they come, and i think you can look up the water quality reports somewhere. They're supposedly kept very up-to-date as in weekly or something like that) and there's also a parking lot on both ends (i didn't know about the one on the east end).
The lakeshore drive parking lots aren't close enough though. I'd estimate we could fit about 49 cars in the west lot and at least 100, maybe 110-120 in the east lot after examining the sat photo more carefully. I think it was actually taken awhile ago because the Yacht club and West End is still a mess with boats all askew and debris piled in corners and against fences/walls
