i just wrapped the intake with heat wrap. I also coated it with a black silicon spray. Its what the heat wrap guide said. It looked like black spray paint but whatever. Its black now and not silver. I hope it helps on the dyno.

i did a before and after with that stuff on my civic.
it helped by an extra 2.8 whp.
not bad, and good job Jarred, i glad to see you went the extra step and siliconed it.
i did the same and it looked better.

I figured i did not want to have to do it again so do it right the first time. Plus i wanted it black. I almost ordered some that was black but it was easier to go to advanced.

sweet! yeah the silicon will not only help it stay on but also keep it from getting wet under the head wrap

i did not think of the wet but i figured it was best to keep the heat wrap on there. Its not a super thick coat but its all black i used almost an entire can of spray paint. I wanted a black intake but this actually worked out better. Are you going to the dyno with us saturday?

i was talking to this guy at my dyno place and he said that the black intake is good because it would suck up the radiation heat in the engine bay. my spacer is black and that thing sucked up 20 degrees difference from the throttle body to the manifold! he was shocked and really smart when it comes to this stuff. most of the intelligent information that was coming out of his mouth made me feel like a ant under a magnifying glass in some 100 degree heat!

but yea that stuff works and is good for small gains and help reduce stress and overall temp in the engine bay, and this was a quote from this guy

How is transferring radiant heat to the intake help with that? Seems it would make the intake air hotter, thus lowering gains...

Also, there is going to be very little radiant heat transfer in the engine bay. Most will be convection, with some conduction. Radiant heat transfer generally comes from very hot, visible sources (such as the sun and open flames).

i dont know really this guy was telling me that because the heat in on the engine was up to like 170 in some areas. the heat being transfered was from engine components touching. he said that black components can store heat better, ?i guess keeping them cooler? he said that is why you have turbo piping silver because he can get real hot and that is good for the oil or something...??

i am no scientist nor do i have the knowledge of heating or combustion, i am only repeating what this guy was telling me. for all i know i could have heard him wrong if you are telling me something different....oh well that spacer works by holding higher temps than the other components.

brian beat me in the only good race we had. he beat me by about 3 feet. one the roll race we were even. i am going to change my spark plugs and see if that helps for tomorrow. I have been running pretty rich for a while so i may have messed the spark plugs up. tomorrow we will see the numbers.
