New S.FLA Dragstrip

well the new 1/8 mile track opened today and i gotta say this is pretty exciting b/c it's literally like 15-20 miles away from my house....unlike Moroso which is like 80 miles away....there was also like just guessing about 1000+ people there today....

the name of the track is Countyline Speedway so if anyone says they're going to race at Countyline then y'all know where to go.....like i said it's not that far it off of Okeechobee (US-27) & N Krome Ave. right where Dade & Broward meet on (US-27) very easy to find....

there's no lights or stands right now but they said that they're gonna put them within the next 3 weeks....so in the mean time it's only gonna be open on the weekends from about 9am-6pm....btw they are open Superbowl Sunday....and when they get all their stuff organized they're gonna be open on wed, sat, & sun nights....

i'm going on Sat. coming up and i mentioned to marvie and he said he might go but i'm gonna need him to confirm....if anyone wants to meet up and go there then let's get it going....

i know that the 1/8 mile is for those guys with the RWD torque monsters but if we show enough support then they're eventually gonna make it a 1/4 mile track....

ohh yeah there's also gonna be a import car show there on Feb. 25.....but i'm gonna be in Texas so if anyone wants to organize something for that feel free to do so...

i heard something like that about Moroso....but either way once they make this a 1/4 mile track then Moroso will lose a lot of money....they majority of the people that race there come from Miami...

drove by there the other day...and i spoke with my dad (FAA official) and told me that was an old airstrip. there's still some dust and dirt on the track itself so its going to be sometime before they do actually make it a 1/4....i mean they just opened it for the 1/8th...god knows how long it will be for the 1/4mile...hopefully not longer than a year or so.

i went there already. im gonna continue going to moroso. not only cuz its a full 1/4 but track prep at this place sucked. inspection was an absolute joke, people werent even trying to sneak in anything illegal, it was mayhem. i hated it. hopefully, a couple more months from now, theyll have there sh*t together.

wow sorry to hear that.........i on the other hand thought it was wayyyyy better than Moroso....granted i didn't run yet...and what do you expect the track is new of course there's no rubber on the floor yet that's y they didn't bother to prep....

the inspection was a joke.....it was pretty much like lining two cars up on the street and telling them to go....closest thing to street racing IMO....

like i said above give it a few weeks that track is gonna have nicer things....and for the distance (15min away) i'd rather go here any day over Moroso (over an hour)....

btw what's up sheek haven't heard 4rm u in a while...

oh im sure theyll get there shit together very soon. i bet midnight madness will come up soon. infact, i give em a month. point is, id rather run on a 1/4 just so i can stay competitive with forum mates. but like i said, in a month ill be willing to bet anything that that track will be a differant place! hope fully itll be a full 1/4 before the summer.

lol yeah its been a minute eh? started a new job and ive just been busy as hell too.

About freakin' damn time they opened a track down here..

It's only 1/8 of a mile, but it's a start..there's a lot of laws and papers that have to be signed before something like this happens, hence why it takes so long to get everything preped. Hopefully, they'll add a circuit to it as well like at Moroso for those of us that enjoy road racing.

Opening this place may even decrease the so many fatal accidents we hear about on the news from streetracing.

I'm down to go too whenever we set a day.

That’s awesome, but how long before we get the 1/4? Also, are there any road courses around here to go out and have some track time?

actually Miami-Dade County was happy that we have a track now....they know that the area in which it's at is a very hot spot for street racing.....and after the turnout that they had on Sun. i'm pretty sure they're gonna be more than happy to license the track for whatever they plan to do....

!!!UPDATE!!! i plan on going on Sat. not sure what time....and i'm going again on Sun....early b4 the game starts so whoever wants to roll hit me up...

check saturday thread made by another south florida member.
when it turns into a 1/4 ... i'll be there ... till then there's no point in spinning through a 1/8 track ... and it's not worth me running drag radials either

yea man...i second that...been a witness to the spin action.
no need to waste tires..unless you wanna practice your launch...buuut...ill peep it out once or twice...ill be out there on Sat around 2 or so

and of course as everyone else knows...the main reason why they opened up that strip is due to the amount of drag racing here in tha street of SoFL, and also they didnt want KIDS driving from 305 all the way up to Moroso and back 1. breaking their cars on the way there/back 2. keeping the kids in the area and to make this strip bigger and badder than the one up in Moroso...(as well all know..it blows balls)...
