I got a bit bored today, so I took the Civic out for a spin through the hills and hollers (yes, hills and hollers
) just south of Louisville. I know of a nice secluded curvy road that goes from about 200 ft to 800 ft within a mile or so and decided I'd have a little fun. With the assistance of the navi, I found some other roads, hills, valleys, and of course, curves. Within 5.5 miles, I hit 99 consecutive curves. I turned around and then drove it again. Averaged out, that's about 2/3 of the curves on the Tail of the Dragon. Not too shabby for being only 25 minutes from my house! The map below doesn't really do it any justice. I imagine most of the curves are pretty tame compared to the Dragon, but there is one very nice 90 degree turn that really freaked out my fiancee. ![]() After I drove that a couple of times, I explored some more. I happened upon a cozy little neighborhood called (and I kid you not!) Penile, Kentucky. Penile is situated on Penile Road, which just so happens to intersect with Cummings AND Manslick. I highlighted the name of the town in red and the roads in green. ![]() I didn't get any pictures, but I did find these on the Net. ![]() ![]() I think next week I'll head toward Cincinnati and visit Big Bone Lick State Park. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tips/...ractionNo==512 ![]()
