Exclamation South FL and the Honda Theft issues

..Well I plan to get the 06 Si, and living in south FL and pretty much being around lots of Honda tuners, I've noticed that you can't own a honda down here and not worry about someone try'n to jack it for something, whether, its a shift knob, side skirts, seats, the damn car itslef you name it! I was wondering if anyone down here purchased the lojack with there Si and what dealers where charging for them? I live out west in the suburbs but its always been a hotbed for honda theft..any solutions guys..recomended alarm systems ect.?

Lo-jack, Window etching, and alarm w/pager if your really that worried about it getting stolen from you. Lo-jack is about $600 as a dealer option, but im sure you can probably get it cheaper elsewhere.

yeah, I might sound like Im exagerating, but if you live in the Ft.Lauderdale area, you'll know what Im talking about. Just try'n to be a lil careful. The fact that these cars always get stolen was one of the reasons why I did'nt go Honda in the first place...its crazy..my homeboy that has a type R, has like two motion lights and security cameras in his driveway. lets hope the Si does'nt become as popular as the R.

so I take it there are a lot of tow trucks doing this? The car can't be hotwired or started without the keys. The computer chip in the key prevents this, so I'm guessing there are tow trucks stealing the whole car around u?

that has happened with tow-trucks, but i know two people with s2000's and there seats were stolen right from a best buy, and the other from a shopping mall. These theifs have some balls around here. If they want it They WILL get it.

Pager alarm (with 360 digital tilt) + GPS tracker would server you better than Lojack (for notification and recovery). And slap on a disklok and pedal jack (for the appropriate transmission (visible and physical deterence).

Or if you swear by the "It doesn't matter what you do they will steal it" line of thinking, do nothing as it is wasted money...

You can just bring an K-Pro ECU with you on the heist and bypass the immobilizer...enough to get the car out of there.

I was just looking at the K-Pro over at Hondata and it does not look like it will handle the DBW in the Si. Not sure if you could use the throttle at all with that. If it cannot read the DBW throttle input, then I don't think it would move (other than 'moe and joe' again)

Yeah, south fl is pretty bad about car thefts. It always seems whatever you do to prevent a theft, the theives are always one step ahead. Just remember to keep up on your insurance policy!

I've got a feeling that those with Navi's are going to be super high theft targets. I've already seen some posts where people have bragged on upgrading their non-navi cars with navi's they got off Ebay. Made me wonder about the actual source. It was claimed to be from a wreck and maybe so but I'm glad I don't have a navi in my car.

well it happened again! One of my co-workers best friends got his GSR stolen from the mall! those bastards, but from what I heard he parked it in a dark spot that night b/c he was in a rush to get to work. im not taking any chances. I just bought a compustar alarm and im starting to consider a lojack..I could be jumping the gun, but k-series swaps are all the rage right now..I will always be on top of my shit..be careful out there people!

i saw an rx-7 stipped do the bone in a paking lot... i dunno, my friend had a RHD civic hatch w/ an H22 and he has had cars stolen b4, he said that he puts one of those bullet proof locks that go on the pedals, on each pedal.. at least so they cant drive it. i guess you just have to watch when/where you park and when/where you drive.

yea man that sounds awesome, i would do it, its kinda a long drive for me but im down. any of you go to towers on friday nights? i go like almost every friday. for those who dont know what it is, its a car show every friday in the Tower Shops parking lot, its on 595 and university and they have a pretty diverse crowd... Imports, lowriders(occasionally), muscle cars, classics, some exotics.... it cost $1 to park in the show and free to spectate... maybe we can get a meet going there, i know there are some RSX and EPs that meet all the time...
