DYNO DAY - SAT 07/29/06 @ st00pidfast (used to be known as Autologic)

My friends are the owners of this Dyno Shop and they're throwing a Dyno Day. I'm spreading the word out there for any FG1/FG2 owners wants to throw their car on the dyno. Here's the info.

Quote:
Okay, alot of people have been asking for a dyno day, so here it is. Dyno will be open all day for everyone who wishes to attend. Starts at 10am. Price is $40 for 3 pulls.

Its going to be first come, first serve. You will get a print out of your 3 runs. its just going to be a good day at the shop checking out rides..

a few things to note.
a) This is NOT an AWD dyno, FWD and RWD only
b) Car must be in good, sound running condition. We are not fixing anything on the dyno
c) This is not a tuning session. Feel free to datalog or make a couple adjustments here or there, but dont expect to change turbos between runs...
d) No wide band will be supplied. It just takes to much time to put it in and take it out, sorry

Hope to see you all there... I

For those who've never been there, drive to the back of the white building. You wont see the shop from the front side. Hope to see everyone attend! :)

$40 for 3 pulls? Now I have no excuse for not getting my car dyno'd. See you there car girl.

Now when people ask how much hp, I don't have to give them a paragraph, "Well, it's 197hp to the crank (according to 06 SAE standards), so that means probably like 180-185 to the wheels. But then also, I have a CAI so that should add about 5 to the wheels so I am probably at like 190hp... blah blah." I hate giving people that spiel. I would rather just say 190hp to the wheels. Thanks cargirl.

I just saw the part about no wide band will be supplied. Does that mean we will just get a piece of paper with the max hp and max tq? I have never dyno'd before so I don't know if the wide band is the same thing as the power band print-out I have seen on every dyno sheet.

Also, what kind of dyno will they be using? Just asking because if I dyno there on saturday, I will have to dyno there every time to get consistent results. I am sure they are counting on that when they decided to have dyno day.

Also, can my friend bring his Protege MazdaSpeed? Or is this just FG/FG2?

I'm not sure, I just reposted this on this forum but everyone is welcomed. It depends on your friend's car. Remember this is NOT an AWD dyno, FWD and RWD only.

I'll call my friend during my lunch break and get back to you ASAP.

It's a FWD Mazda. I don't even know that he would be able to go, just planning ahead because he doesn't know his hp and he's stock w/ a turbo and has a few bolt ons. I want him to go.

Also, I would really like to see the powerband. If that is the "wide band not supplied" you are talking about, can you find out how much extra it would be to get 1 pull with the power band? Thanks cargirl. What kind and color is your civic?

I'll call her later today during my lunch break and ask her. =) I wish I knew from the top of my head but I don't, lol.

No one is tuning you.. if you want to make adjustments YOURSELF, fine, but dyno days are so people can come and get a baseline, so they can see what kind of power they are making right now.
Two, my car is a Royal Blue and I have the LX model. I won't be there when it starts because I work all day. I don't get off til 6pm but who knows? I'll probably head there after work.

The word is the dyno they use is a Dyno Jet. About the wide-band not being supplied, it means its just a base-line. Just throw your car on the dyno and do three pulls.

As for the extra of the wide-band and getting your car tuned, you would have to speak to the shop owner/tuner about that. This is the info I got from my boyfriend.

The print-out will still have the line graph of our power band right? I am pretty sure that every dyno has that graph, but just want to make sure. Sorry for so many questions, but this is my first time taking my baby out on a dyno.

Yes, you will get a graph sheet of the MAX HP and TQ power. I have a copy of my dyno sheet at home but I'm currently at work. Tomorrow I will scan it so you folks can get an idea of how the dyno pulls works. =)

C'mon people, spread the word!

Its where everyone that is car enthusiasts gets together and throw their cars on the dyno. Your car does three pulls and you just see how much max HP and torque your car makes. Stock, all-motor or whatever... :)

Its really fun and this will give everyone a chance to meet and greet each other. I wish I was there in the morning but sadly, I work every Saturday and I won't be there til the evening. I don't plan on throwing my car on the dyno because I already did that. I'm just there to hang out with my friends and meet some FG owners hopefully.

I will probably be there with my friend early morning (pretty close to when they open). My friend has work at 2pm so we want to be one of the first ones up there. I will try to stick around as long as I can once he leaves, but I am having a BBQ at my house later that day. I still hope to meet some of yall there as I have yet to meet anyone from here in person.

It seems like 9/10 people on this forum live in Florida (and go to Moroso), which there is nothing wrong with, I just don't get a chance to meet any of them. I have a good friend who just moved to Ft. Lauderdale so I am hoping to make a trip out there some time. I just don't know if I want to put that many miles on my Si.

cargirl, what were the results of your dyno pull?

Well hope to see you there. My boyfriend is going around 4pm and then we will be back again around 6pm but I don't think we'll be around long since we have somewhere later that night to attend.

Let me find my dyno sheet and I will post the results. Apparently, my friend said my car did good for an Auto. Haha.

Here is some more detailed information:

*We will have a few things to grill starting between 12pm-1pm, and like Neil said, it will be first come, first serve. If you plan on arriving later in the afternoon, I would suggest bringing your own items to grill.

*We will have some chairs set up, but if you happen to have some fold out chairs, it might not be a bad idea to bring them.

*Bring change for the soda machine! Water is $1.00, Monster/Full Throttle Fury are $2.00, and all can sodas are $.50.

*We cannot have people near the dyno or walking through the shop while dynoing, so we will have a screen setup outside so everyone can watch the action from a safe distance.

*We will have some shop cars on display for your viewing pleasure.

Mingle, chat, ask questions, hang out, and we hope you all have a good time! We're looking forward to meeting some new faces tomorrow!

I am about to take a shower and then head over there. I hope I didn't miss all the food. It's OK if I did though, I am going there with one thing on my mind.
