I honestly think the rules and consequences on this site are getting way out of hand. Seems like most of the moderators are abusing their power and deleting threads and posts they do not like even if there is no rule about it. This site was awesome when it first started out but now with so many moderators it is really starting to fall apart quick (one of the main reasons i made my own forum). It is kind of making me rethink even being a member of this site anymore.

You guys are taking this ROTM thing way to seriously. It is just a BS popularity contest for people who are post whores and want some free stuff. I have seen stock civics get nominated for ROTM when there were probably like 100 more eligible candidates that might actually stand a chance of winning. I think you should get rid of the free stuff all together or maybe just offer another year of VIP to the winner.

I don't even know why i even made this post cause marc is probably just gonna delete it anyways but I just want to see if other people feel the same way.

/rant for now

I am just saying the whole ROTM thing in general is BS. Look at Vtak07's ride, He has like 2 things done to it so far. Can someone please tell me how that is ROTM material? I don't know much about him so don't take it personal, i just believe it should be more about the car and not just the person since it is indeed Ride of the month not Person of the month

You could've responded to my PM and kept this confidential, but now that you brought it out in the open, I'll reply here.

1) Rules - They're in place for a reason. We're trying to reward people who are deserving of the ROTM title buy involving our sponsors and freebies. I'd say 99% of the other forums out there with some type of ROTM also provide prizes for their winners. We are also trying to protect the sponsors and contestants by holding a contest that is fair.

2) Abuse of power - Heard this so many times (usually from members that have been warned/reprimanded/etc). If you seriously doubt my judgement/actions, then please state your case to the Site Admins. Or you could always PM me to tell me I was out of line. Some people have done this and in a few cases, I back-tracked. Again, state your case and be sincere.

3) ROTM is meant to be taken seriously - As I said time and time again, spending thousands of dollars is no joke. ROTM is here to motivate and reward people for their hard work. To some people, it doesn't mean anything. But for others, it's something they really want. If it's not important to you, then don't vote. Don't vote for someone who clearly doesn't deserve it (like remz857 - no photos, no response to PMs, no site activity). And when I've changed the poll to "Vote here if you want to be banned", don't vote there unless you really want the boot! But as I said in my PM, I am just handing out warnings because this is a unique problem for this month's ROTM only.

4) You don't like ROTM? Visit other threads! - There are thousands of other threads that could interest you. If you don't like ROTM then don't vote. But voting for some BS option is what really ticks me off.

Wow. I thought you would go all out on me for my rant but guess not I know spending thousands on your car is no joke (I have done that also. Heck my Headunit alone is half the price of the redshift supercharger).

When I said rules I meant site rules in general not just ROTM rules. After receiving your PM though that kinda drove me over the edge and I felt like i had to go on a rant about how everything is BS. I was also kind of upset over a conversation I had with 2fast and Webby the other day so your PM got me more frustrated also. I think that the site needs to be more lienient (sp?) with the rules and not bust everyones balls all the time. Like I said before, this site was much more enjoyable last year than it is now at times.

Most definitely true. I think it also has to do with the 8thcivic community growing as a whole in terms of population size. With more people joining this forum, there are more chances for stupid behavior and reckless consideration for others. Therefore, there is a need to step up the authority level and implement the need for more moderators and such. To the population of members who have been here for a while, even some since the beginning, they have felt that "back in the day" seemed to be run on a different set of values. Maybe it's just my personal opinion, but it seems that 8thcivic has gone overboard regarding censorship and free speech. That, or maybe the fact, that a year ago, we had a much smaller community which allowed for a more tight knit social network.

On another note, I feel that there are a lot of deserving members on this board, but due to their lack of activity on this forum, they have been left out of the running. This is apparent by just looking at the type of people who are nominated. For example, the only reason why Remz was nominated was because he/she has made such an extravagant and preposterous reputation that it is impossible to not know them by name (or username). Thus, leading to their nomination for Ride of the Month although clearly they are not deserving due to lack of pictures. Does anyone even know the user by the name of vtec_marine? I think his ride is amazing, but he doesn't have the marketing that other users have. Is there a way to remedy this situation? Who knows.

I agree with what you saying.. as far as getting yourself out there, that just kinda how it is. What I think would happen is with 1 nomination, people would go and actually try to find this member's ride and go from there. But let's all be real.... people are just gonna vote the same cars that haven't one yet because they aren't gonna take the time to go see what that person's car is all about.. that is until they are in the running of ROTM.

It just goes with everything pretty much... sad but true

Instead of voting on it as a popularity contest they should open a thread where all members who want to be considered can post a few pictures and facts about their rides. You can leave this open for a week or so and than maybe start a poll in the same thread and take the top 5 members with the most votes out of that. You can maybe set it up so the first 20 people to make posts will be in the poll. This way I believe it will give everyone who wants to have a chance an equal opportunity. You should also not have the nominations held in VIP anymore but instead in the watercooler section so everyone can get in and vote. If its only in VIP than its just gonna be the whores that get in

Anywho.. ROTM has certain benefits/perks and shouldn't be a popularity contest.

exactly my point. Either you keep ROTM the way it is and get rid of the perks or you change the way its setup and keep the perks

The car should have a few real modifcations to it. Wheels, visor, stickers, etc. Don't really count has doing work on the car. Still a stock car to me.

It is wrong to have perks if it is just going to be the same 5 people running over and over. I guarantee if you get rid of the perks it will be 5 different people that are up for nominations

i agree wheels by themselves....should not judge whether or not they make it into the voting. But, they do, however, make or break a car in total with support mods

To be considered you have something different than what everyone else has. If you have painted Si rims and an HFP kit only you should not be allowed.
