In that case it just proves its a popularity contest. I think you should stop doing ROTM for a while and really think about new rules that you can make to set it up so its a fair playing field. I would suggest using some of the suggestions in this thread as a starting point because there are alot of great arguments

I guess my point is, why do you care so much about other people and how they mod their cars? It seems more like a jealousy thing to me rather than something else. but thats just my .02 |

one thing that ticks me off is some people get nominated for a dumb reason. For example: the guy with the white Type-R keeps getting nominated, why?!?!?! He bought his car like that and didnt really do anything to make it looks nice. Unlike the current ROTM who actually converted his car. If you want to vote for a Type-R at least vote for the guy with the red hatch, at least he put aftermarket wheels on
edit:sorry Jeshua

Also the arguement about the ThomasCrown guy.... it's true.. Ride of the Month is not based on things like that. Yes its great, but how many people have already traveled great distances with their 8thgens. Granted his story is unique, that doesn't mean his car is worth of being ROTM. I think there's been some great suggestions thus far. I can't remember the reasoning behind why regular members weren't allowed to nominated people, but maybe theres someway to reinstate it. The thing about uniqueness is that people will either love it or hate. The moder can not control the opinion of the masses, they in their mind might feel that their car is ROTM potential, but the population doesn't. Some people mod to impress others and some do it on their own accord, but others opinions shouldn't matter as long as you like it..................

I too agree that this is a popularity vote first, car vote second. I could have the most ballin sedan on this site and I'd never become ROTM. Classic example is when you see people voting for an ASM coupe with some minor mods/ HFP kit and it has several votes when there are cars like Mugen Sedans with the Type R conversion on it... how does a mildly modded car compete with that?

Is it the owners fault for not making their car known on the site? There a section completely dedicated to car builds. Obviously those who update it often will have more hits than those who post less frequent. Like i said before at the same time, it takes someone to nominate them for the ball to get rolling but people won't take the chance at going to see why they were nominated.

i don't think it's all about popularity... ok well maybe it is... b/c i'm well known on the site (i hope)... but not very popular... and i have never even been nominated once to be in the running...
i think it's more or less the ppl that care about ROTM go to the threads and post in them... that's how they get known and eventually win... i don't frequent the ROTM threads... i guess that has part to do with my lack of nominations... i don't like to brag or boast but every person that has seen my Fiji in person has said they've never seen a better looking one than mine (in person)... and all i did was paint a few parts on my car and lower it w/tint... yet on forums i don't get noticed ... i guess i need to take more ![]() |

with your car in it. that will get you noticed hahaha jk..But what you said is true.. those who get more exposure will have a better chance to win. Just another variable that is somewhat controlled and uncontrolled. If a person has NO interest in becoming ROTM, then why would they frequent the ROTM threads? Some prefer to be in the shadows. Not every car that looks ROTM deserving is gonna try and be ROTM. As Kumar said, just because you are hung like a horse, doesn't mean you have to do porn.
