It's a popularity contest for sure. The people who said this know it. The people who don't say it know it. What's the chance of me winning if I were to go up against jmartinez for example. Except for his projectors (which don't make your car original in the least now), his car doesn't look eye catching in the least. The guy who won before with the white FA5 who went ahead and did the whole JDM conversion, that's a different story.

Take a look at this.
An example of how people don't like things that are original and that people with the norm get ROTM JAPAN under the hood! Just shows how being original doesn't cut it for ROTM. |

Well sure! No one is going to get nominated if we haven't seen their car (all jokes aside). It's called marketing. Since you can't nominate yourself, you have to "sell" your car to the other members. I have very few mods, but I'm sure if I pushed my car enough, it would at least get a nomination or two.
Wash your car, wax your car, clean out the interior and engine bay really good, and then take some nice pictures of it on a sunny day. Go to a local meet or two. It's not that hard. And not that you brought it up, but it has been mentioned before...people always gripe than anything that's not an Si can't win. People soon forget our first ROTM winner was an LX. |

No i'm just saying look for example. People don't like it because everybody else isn't doing it. I didn't say just because of one mod it should be ROTM. This was an example of everyone's behavior of going with the crowd.

It was still something valid to bring up. We would just be avoiding the problem when there were plenty of people who voted people based on the individual or other characteristics that had nothing to do with ROTM.

I believe my car is more eligible for ROTM but since I don't whore it out it never gets any votes. That was not the whole basis for my argument to get my car voted for though. I just wanted to try and even out the playing field for none VIP members and members who don't spend every second of their life on this forum

well since it does seem like this month has been a joke as per the nominations. why not allow all the mods to pick 4 members that they think are qualified for rotm and then after the 4 have been chosen the rest of the members get to vote.
if you want to be nominated you must meet specified criteria. |

That's been brought up in the past. The only problem I see with that method is that moderators are here to moderate. In terms of a say in the community, we're all equal and I think the forum as a whole should be participating in this.
