Showing us the 12 voters is kind of..

What if Mods get 2 votes and sponsors have 3.. then everyone else has 1 vote.. oh and previous ROTM = 2 votes as well.

This might allow more cars to participate, more of a change in images as well as a clear definition as to what's being voted on.

Just a suggestion though. :)

Steve
That would be cool for the photoshop/pro photos contest, not for RIDE of the month. :P

I think it's this sort of mentality that drives ride of the month already. Right now it seems like if you own a DSLR and are good at photoshop, you can win with a bone stock 1985 Honda CRX.

This, in my opinion, has gotten to political anyway. Just my .02 though. It is the internet, I don't own the site, so it really doesn't matter anyway. Haha.

Looks like the ROTM rules need changing if this is the way the site will proceed with future ROTM.

The site is becoming larger, but a total of 24 people decide who the ROTM is?
I think it should be up to everyone, but whatever you guys choose I will still check to see whos up

I think we've been *very* generous with the way the old system ran. Despite all attempts at bringing up how this isn't a popularity contest, how this isn't vote for your friend, vote for X because he's repping a certain region, PEOPLE STILL DID IT. I am not way saying all biases have been eliminated and I was all for getting the whole community involved, but I mean it came down to this for a reason.

I gotta say, it made me more interested in running for ROTM after this month's voting system was changed. I think it makes it much more legit. There are just too many internet monkeys or like you're saying, people who vote biased.ly out there to have any real legitimacy behind a Ride of the Month to rep 8thcivic.com. Sure it's not power to the people but in general, in situations that need to be evaluative (cough, singing competitions) the populous will generally fail and vote for the wrong people - perhaps they are also misinformed or too new at the game to provide a real judgement... When I think back to when I was 16, my tastes were poor because loud "pipes" at the time, big wings and lots of stickers were awesome. Now, not as much. I don't want 16 year old sticker people to have a say and I don't think they should have a voice in a car that will represent an entire website community of people...

Now, where do I officially nominate myself?

Do you really think the "biased" people made a huge difference? I have had absolutely no complaints as to who has won ROTM so far and I think the members did a good job at picking them.

I did not like the old nomination system as that was biased; the new way is much better. I like the mods picking the best rides to be up for voting.

But, I hate not having a say in who wins. I don't think it is fair that the hundreds of members who have made the site what it is don't have a say in something so simple.

This site has over 32,000 members. And you are only letting a select few pick? I don't agree with that.
