How do you put NEF (RAW Format) pictures onto Photoshop?

So I just went out and purchased my Nikon D80 (Loving it) But I got home, tried to put some RAW pics onto Photoshop and it says "Could not complete the request because it is not the right kind of document". How can I use RAW (.NEF file-type) on Photoshop CS2????

Yeah I was gonna say...you should be actually be able to edit the .RAW files before you even edit them using Photoshop...weird how it didn't work the first time...
