That's what I'm thinking. With a 28-135, it's a very good walkaround. The only reason I could think of to buy a new lens is to dip into wide or telephoto.

The Canon 50mm f1.8 Mark II "nifty fifty" can be had for around 70-80 used, so he's not far off.
