Houston Skyline + D300 + Skateboarding = TEH WIN.

Kicked it with my pops this weekend, went downtown to check out the new skatepark they are building (which, might I add, is absolutely rad) and somehow came across a great location to shoot the skyline of Houston without many distractions. Luckily had my board in the car (as I always do) and was like... shit... let's take a picture of me skating just to make the situation that much more epic. Obviously not a true test of skill (skateboarding wise) but turned out pretty ill. Hope none of you dudes are stuck in the 640x480 resolution era!

He also took some shots with his sigma 10-20 at the local park today... I'll try to get those pics up soon.

Enjoy!

Fast shutter speed captures the action with out any blur.

Shutter speed was REALLY fast at 1/1000th of a second. This is fast enough to capture the 'boarder quite clearly.

Hmm, I think the first picture would have benefitted from a slightly slower shutter speed, lower angle, and closer to the subject. Also would definitely help to have him facing the camera.

Second picture...I don't know...something looks off about it. I'm not to sure of the skater being dead-center. I'm also not sure of the choice of shot. He's too far, and looks like he's just there, instead of being what's being photographed.

In addition, I don't think it's very clear that the skateboarder is the subject in the second picture. The tall buildings are definitely taking attention away from the viewer.
