Your first one is interesting, but the second one really isn't. There's a lot of things going on in that photo and everything is in the same focus. If you wanted to capture the stump better, I would have gone past the tree in the bottom left corner or tried another angle.

Also on your website your pictures are cut at a % or size that isn't copacetic with the web browser and as a result you get choppy/'early digital' lines. You might want to resize the images. Or maybe you cut them too low? On my second look some of the photos like the last one for example, is all digitally and hard to see. Use a higher DPI and an even level (like 25% not 25.1 or 16.67%) and the images will be clearer.

thx for the photo advice, the second sample pic was annoying b/c i couldn't get around the bottom tree and had the sun coming in from the left so that was the only angle. Since its a point and shoot it tends to focus on everything im trying to work out how to only focus on specific objects

It's definitely better on the site. I'm using firefox.

And for the shot location, sometimes you just gotta do what your willing to do to get the spot. I chased a few deer up and down the Niagara escarpment in sandals. My feet were scrapped by all the small branches/twigs, rocks, and dirt, but I was having the time of my life.

to get

still not the sharpest there but i certainly got close

yea that is my favorite part...the waterfall shots required climbing through some thick trees and down a small cliff

Well, your first one doesn't have a strong center of focus. There is a lot going on with the various trees, overgrowth, and the sky. This is a problem because the center of focus (The road) occupies such a small portion of the frame.

The main problem is the road in your picture doesn't have a starting or ending point which is almost expected by the viewer.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
