Pentax Or Nikon?

I forgot which camera model they were, the nikon was like a d40 or something and no clue about the pentax. Which one would you guys recommend for a noob like myself entering the photography world.

The pentax is 599.99 and the nikon is 499.99. Price I would go with nikon lol. But what about the lenses, is there any difference in quality, price. availability. Please help

Thanks.

Just my 2 cents: I have heard nothing but good things about Nikon cameras. I am no expert in this field in anyway shape or form, but most users I have talked to with Nikon's love them.

I've recommended it on here before but I'd say go with a Nikon D50. It's a little older but you can still find new ones for the same price that are compatible with all lenses.

If you decided to go with teh D40, know that it's not compatible with all lenses though nikon and third party manufacturers are trying to come up with more lenses that have the motors built in.

I have a Pentax K100d Super, and I love it. Also, every K mount lens ever made will will work with the new DSLRs and the SR is built into the camera and really works so every lens you have has shake reduction. I think either way you go, you'll be making a good choice. Just try them both out and see which you like better.
