Nikon D40 - Good Camera?

I'm looking for a camera and was thinking of getting a Nikon D40. I don't want no high expensive one with a million megapixel. What do you guys think of a Nikon D40? It's not that expensive compared to other kinds and the pictures look really good. Any recommendation or comments would be great, thanks.

its a pretty good camera, but if you have other nikon lenses it will not auto focus on all aftermaket lenses. other than that its a great entry level camera that will give you some great pics. cant beat nikon..

its good, but dont waste your money on the d40x it doesnt shoot as well and, the megapixels dont matter too much.

heres a review, its by ken rockwell who is one of the most trusted guys in photoghraphy, i pretty much base my purchases off his reviews.

Nikon D40

For the same price you can get a D50 that accepts all lenses... just an idea.

I've got a 50 and my buddies have the 40/40x. Guess who never had issues with new lenses :)

I haven't looked at canon. Just saw the d40 and wasn't too rvpensive so I chose that. What do you recommend that isn't too expensive?

the xti and the xsi are perfect for entry level....if you have the budget, ditch the kit lens and just buy the body. for a walk around lens, my recommendation would be to get the tamron 17-50 f2.8 for starters. i got this lens with my xt body over a year ago and am very very pleased with the results (its about technique also but better equipment does help)

cant go wrong with canon.
