Mass destruction of the Canon cameras

This pile of digital cameras, lenses and camcorders boxes is worth no less than half a million U.S. dollar:

This is Canon EOS 20D DSLR - $1200

And this one - professional EOS 1Ds Mark II. Street price around $8000

$2500 - world’s first “affordable” full-frame digital SLR camera Canon EOS 5D:

But nothing could stop those guys with the hummers:

Professional DSLRs, cheap point & shoots, amateur miniDV camcorders - everything mercilessly destroyed:

Two Canon Pro1 superzooms and one camcorder - $800 each

L-grade telephoto lens for sports photojournalists (around $6000) - smashed

All that whitey L lenses that are so good and so expensive, they are all killed

It might look like Nikon fans orgy but reality is pretty simple. All that gear were damaged during transportation or storage. Canon just can’t allow this stuff to hit the shelves no matter how expensive (or cheap) it is.

why the heck did they do that? My dad and I woulda snatched a bunch of those if they were going for a cheap price instead of them just being destroyed.

They did that because the cameras ,lens, etc. Are already damaged. There's no point of trying to sell it when people buy them, to find out it's damaged, they're just gonna send the product back for repairs or even a replacement. Which will cost them more money than just breaking them and make new ones.
(Canon offers a 1 year warranty).

Like the bottom of my post says, they were damaged during transportation or storage

I think most of us who read the first post, got the idea that these were damaged goods. Still, out of the whole bunch, there should be some that are simple fixes. Even if they were damaged, they could sell them "AS IS" and make whatever they can make off that.

Thanks for the pictures btw. Very interesting to see.

No problem.

But seriously if they sell it as it with damages, I don't think you would be satisfied. Would you be satisfied if your camera had a blank viewfinder? Or an L series lens that produces a soft image quality?

If canon puts those damaged products for sale, I don't think a lot of people would be happy about it. And that could ruin they're reputation. Also, I don't think people would be even using their damaged goods.

I think this is the most horrifying picture for a L series lover.
