Just bought a rebel xt

Haven't had the time to sit down and figure everything out, but so far I'm liking it. This is my first SLR, let alone DSLR so I still have a lot to learn about aperature, shutter speed, and iso, which is why I'm here. Do you guys know of any photography forums I can check out? Or does anyone have any tips for getting started?

thanks!

Fredmiranda.com for reviews on lenses and stuff.

I just scour about the web for tips. Or let people critique my work...but I'm usually in tears at the end of it.

Just did "Beginner's Photography":

Also the forums at DP Review are pretty good. At least they used to be, I haven't visited there much lately.

The 8thCivic Photography forum is also a great place to learn. We have so many knowledgeable people here. If you have questions, just ask! Though it would be appreciated if you could do a little searching around first.

Thanks guys! Was there not a sticky in this forum somewhere explaining iso, shutter speed, aperature etcetera? I recall seeing a post like this on here one day.

There should be a sticky at the top of the Photography forum that was originally posted by Kelmar, it's a great interactive tool that shows you exactly what everything does and how it effects the picture.

ISO is simply the sensativity of the sensor to light. Higher the ISO the less light you need to properly expose the picture, but the higher you go the more noisy your pictures can get. For real clean pictures keep it at 100 or 200, but you'll be limited in shutter speeds if shooting inside w/o a flash at those ISO speeds.
