Choosing a Camera

Well My girlfriend and I are about to buy a camera. We want a good one, but it doesn't have to be on the level of the XTi Something that takes good clear pictures and also takes clear/crisp pictures when fully zoomed in. We've narrowed it down to 2 camera's right now and I wanted some of your guys' opinions and possibly reviews before we buy. I've looked some reviews up online and they're mixed, but some of the pictures I've seen on this board are absolutely amazing so I figured maybe you guys would have some good advice.

Cameras:
Olympus SP510UZ
Can be found for $220-270
10x zoom, 7.1 megapixel, Image Stabilization(a big + for me)
http://www.dcmag.co.uk/Olympus_SP510...F5oY7WsLA.html

Canon Powershot A720 IS
About $250
6x zoom, 8 megapixel, Image Stabilization
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PROD...IS/A720ISA.HTM

As you can probably tell our price range is like $200-$270ish...Thanks

The Image Stability for prosumer cameras are usually software-based (instead of having a floating lens/mirror system within the lens barrel in SLR cameras). This means that they're not as effective as IS lenses (which you can't buy for prosumer cameras), but they should do the trick for regular shooting. Just don't go full zoom in low light and expect great results.
I've seen these cameras in action, and they're a great compromise for an SLR. Definitely go for Canon.

digital image stabilization vs optical image stabilization are what you are referring to. the canons have optical, i think the olympus is digital, i forget.

^ Idk which it has , but it has the stabilization feature. I'm gonna pick up the Canon one. I was leaning towards that in the 1st place and you guys sold it

Ill take some pics and a review later this week
