thats really helpful! here are a few other tips i can think of:

1. dont be afraid to take your camera everywhere, and dont be afraid to whip it out and start shooting when you see something, even if you have to pull over on the side of the road.

2. since most people have digital cameras, get a big memory card and take A LOT of photos, your not wasting film or money so go crazy.

3. try to find photos in everyday things, if your bored sitting at home, take out your camera and try to get some great photos out of random things.

4. dont be afraid to get down on the ground to get a photo, especially when taking action photos, dramatic angles work well with them.

and here are a few cool techniques (examples are not taken by me):

1. go out in the middle of the night, set your camera on a tripod and do some long exposures, stuff can look really cool at night. examples:

2. at night or in a dark room, set your camera on a tripod and set it to leave the lens open for 15-30sec. get in front of the camera and start "painting" with a flashlight. try a few different colored lights for cool effects. also i you can make your camera flash in the beginning or at th end you can be in the photo as well. examples:
