If I were you, I'd get the f1.4
You get all that much more.. and you won't lose out on the f1.8 either cause you'll be able to go higher. the f1.8 should only be $100... look around if your seeing $200. The only difference is that small 0.4 aperture range, which is very useful in low light conditions and if you want a very low depth of field. f1.4! |

Go with the f/1.4, the price difference, at least here in the US is worth the step-up in build quality. Plus the bokeh at f/1.4 is awesome and is noticible over f/1.8. However generally the f/1.8 lenses tend to be more sharp wide open than the f/1.4 versions.
On a side note I sold my 50mm f/1.4 but I want to pick up an older manual focus Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 by the end of the summer. The effects of the DOF at f/1.2 are rediculous. |

go with the 1.4... the quality on it is top notch...
when u start getting up to better lenses, like the thousand dollar L lenses, a 200 difference is nothing but 200 more for the quality u get with the 1.4 is worth it. i have it and i love it.
