Maybe if you're doing 100 the whole way there.

I think it's 8 or 9 hours for me, from eastern NC. I haven't really though of what I'll bring, I'll probably just throw all my stuff together a few minutes before I leave.

Arn't I caravaning with you? That means that I've got to get this too otherwise you have to stop every time I have to go.

What kind of two way do you have? I have some old ones that arn't all that great, but will probably buy some new ones. Considering that you, me and whatever Texas dross you pick up along the way will be together for 13 hours, I figure that it would be best if I get one that is compatable with yours.

Hehe, I haven't bought one yet... I'm totally not using that urinal thing, I was completely kidding. No WAY would I chance getting PEE near my Si. I haven't purchased a 2-way radio; what kind should we get? I can bring a couple from the dealership (we don't use them anymore; we switched to Nextel 2 ways); I can see how many of them they will let me take. It really doesn't matter what kind we all use though. We just need to agree on a channel to use first.

On 2nd thought, the battery life on those old walkie-talkies at the dealership is only like 5 hours; that's why we stopped using them. So scratch that idea. i want something i can leave turned on the whole way.

How about these? 5 mile range, and good price too, plus the battery is not built in.

When we were there last year, some people may have used them a little ... but it wasn't enough to really matter.
You can catch a cell signal here and there so it is really up to the individual whether or not they see a need for 2-way's.

The one time I used two ways I found that the sound quality was so bad, you couldn't understand anything anyone was saying anyway. The motorcycle peeps have it figured out. They have bike systems with headsets, but they are very expensive. That would be ultimate solution.

im talking on the road down lol Although a "Conquer The Dragon Trucker Special" would be pretty cool

EDIT: Also if you were to bring a police scanner one would have to program to the local police frequency and any surrounding area. Its not like you can just roll up w/ a scanner and have it pick up what your looking for
