I think the best thing for the TX folk would be to meet up in Shreveport, LA. It's the funnel point for Austin and Dallas, and not to far out of the way for the Houston kids. You gotta go north sometime.

Or we could divide up into the 20 crew and the 10 crew and try to hook up east of Mississippi.

Right before departure, we should elect caravan wing commanders that the plebs can form up on. The wing commanders would be responsible for communicating with the other eastbound wings and keeping the chickies together.

What have I gotten myself into, or rather what have ya'll gotten yourselves into.

There will probably be like, three of us.

Shreveport works awesome for me, it's almost exactly at the halfway point between where I live, and The Dragon! Shreveport is a 12 hour drive from my place, according to MapQuest. I want to caravan SO BAD!!! I can't make a 24 hour trip by myself guys!!

So how about all TX caravanners meet up in Shreveport, LA, 9pm, Tuesday, Sept. 4th. We can all meet for dinner, discuss caravan plan of attack, etc... Then wake up the next morning, have breakfast, discuss last minute details, and make the remaining 12 hour drive to Deals Gap. We would arrive at Deals Gap wednesday night (technically before the meet starts, but lots of other people will be there wed. night too). Just throwing an idea out there. Thoughts?

Shreveport would be 2 hours and an extra night's hotel for me, but it would shave off about two hours of drive time on Wednesday.

I'll definately think about it.

This trip is going to cost me a ton of money and vacation time.

I might be bringing a friend, so I need to make reservations at the topoco lodge soon before it gets booked. Damn 5 nights is going to end up being like $600, plus $250 in gas. I'm glad I'm done with all my mods!

We seriously need to get on the ball and start rooming up or we'll all be broke by the end of this.

I tried sleeping in my Si, the seats suck for it.

I agree. Who wants to share a room? I'm down so long as you're not mean.

I guess that excludes me. I'm super mean. Last night, I kicked a kitten just because it was so cute.

Actually, I've got a friend that >might< be going. It depends on if I can get him to cough up half the room in TN. I'd love for him to go, but if you read the fine print, a lodge room is $126 a night after tax and tip. I'd rather sleep on the floor with a complete stranger than have to pay the extra $315 for 5 nights. (W Th F Sa Su) Not only that, but if the website is correct, and the signup page is correct, there are a MAXIMUM of two rooms left. I need to make reservations this weekend if I want to have a chance to hang out with the cool kids at the lodge. I'll let you know. If I'm going solo, I'm in for camping out with ya.
