The money is confirmed. We just have to figure out what to do with it. I was thinking about maybe getting some gift certificates from some of the sponsors on 8thCivic and having a drawing for them but your idea sounds good. Give me some more details about what you have in mind.

wait..the town gave us money?
photoshoot would be cool..but im sure with everyone thats going we can take professional photographs..my friend is pretty good with the camera and hes prob going if not im taking his camera (Nikon D50 DSLR) so i say spend the money elsewhere..unless theyre sending out copies in frames and what not..maybe poster size now thatd be cool..a poster of my car :-D |

It's the Graham County Travel & Tourism Authority that has set aside $500 for "entertainment purposes" or dash plaques for everyone.
I was hoping that the money could be used to supplement our dinner on Saturday night at Tapoco but that is not an approved purpose. Also, nobody with our group will ever have their hands on any of this money. Tapoco Lodge is responsible for using the money for whatever arrangements are made. Dirk at Tapoco has suggested we could use it for door prizes or a band. (He suggested a bluegrass band but he seems to be in the dark about how that would go over with the sport compact crowd.) I was thinking that we could get some gift certificates from some of the 8thCivic.com sponsors and have drawings for them during Saturday night's dinner. For those of you that don't know, Killboy and his people sit at a couple different points along the Dragon and snap pictures of cars as they go buy and sell them online here: http://killboy.com/. Hiring him to take some cool photos of our cars is an intriguing idea. etf, nomar06, and I will be at the Dragon in a few weeks talking to some folks. We will run the photoshoot idea by Dirk and see if that is an approved purpose. If so, etf is friends with Killboy so we can go talk to him about it. He has some high-dollar equipment and would be able to take some great pics of our cars. Perhaps members could buy some nice large photos of their cars through him. One thing that concerns me is where to fit this in. Taking nice pictures of each person's car could take quite a bit of time. Also, do we do this at the dam where the group picture will take place? Saturday is pretty packed with things to do already. Some people won't be arriving until Friday evening so they will be left out. Another thing, is $500 enough to even hire Killboy to do the shoot?

i like the gift idea...but that would single a few people out..everyone should be a part of where the money is spent.

Usually a "professional" shoot is 1000+ expenses At least for my friend who shoots for billboard mag etc etc however.. this is probably good for killboy since most of the shots he takes go to waste... not EVERYONE is going to order shots from his site. with the 500 up front we can work out something make that EVERYONE will get a shot and those orders can be sent to the owners |
