The Dragon itself (at a normal speed)
North end of Dragon - Rt 129/72 intersection
Rt 129/72 intersection - Vonore

THANKS!
According to Mapquest, going from Tapoco to Robbinsville to Tellico Plains takes 2 hr. 11 min. Going from Tapoco to Vonore to Tellico Plains takes 1 hr. 44 min. But since we are driving on back roads, I question the accuracy of the Mapquest directions.

The best estimation I can get you for driving the Dragon is from Tapoco to Calderwood. Mapquest says it takes 21 min. I'll try to see how fast it is in Cookstar time before the meet.

(Sorry, the links to the three maps posted died.)

Of course, we will probably drive them a little faster as long as nobody is in our way.

Making you and Nomar the mods for it

So you can maint the meet... update the posts and edit appropriate content for it

Only giving you abilities for that specific section.

It would make this easier to navigate etc etc.
Hmmm. I will link this post to the appropriate people. And why limit us?

webby did tell me he would put the meet on the home page as it draws closer and possibly allow us to move it.

Oh yeah. The area that the Dragon runs through is known as Deal's Gap. We had Friday lunch last year at the Dragon's Den Grill at the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort. We may do that again this year. They've got some great burgers. I talked to one girl at work who's into motorcycles and she was familiar with the name Deal's Gap but not with the Tail of the Dragon. Go figure...

Ok, with the grill, we will definately need to get the total number of CONFIRMED members that will be attending. And uhh, from then, we could assess the quanity of food. With a picnic, food items such as hot dogs, burgers, BUFFALO WINGS!!!, egg salad, chips, pop, snacks, etc.

No problem. We could all wire a certain amount funds to Cookstar (or whomever) via paypal. OR, we could make it a potluck picnic... Which would be a little easier on the food gathering/transporting...

And another thing, I really don't know the area much, but only Robbinsville and the TOD. So I don't care where I run, just as long as I get to be LAST! jk... (Memoirs Of The Last Dragon Run) LOL.

But the pot luck or the BYOM(bring your own meat) sounds good to me. Makes it alot easier for everyone to get what they want instead of putting $$$ in and may or may not get theirs $$$ worth.

I just wanted everyone to know that Marsha will ask you for a credit card number when you call to make reservations. I'm sure an inquiry will be made on your card to see if it's valid but it will not be charged until the meet. This info will be put on the FAQ thread today.

My guess is that the average age will be somewhere in the mid- to upper-20s. I'll be 33 next month so I guess I'm pretty close to your age group.

Just curious, but Aquarian? My b'day is in 2 weeks. Yay.... lol

Is anyone else going by way of MD/VA that might wanna get together for a caravan? I saw a few people from Canada, and I know Zesti said he was meeting Mike in NY. I think dbrad was going to catch up to me when I got to MD, but it'd make for a LOT less boring of a ride if a bunch of us got together. Plus Mike can buy us pizza....
