here is a suggestion
if this gets "big" which i think it is i think we should break up into 2 groups split up evenly.

one running the dragon while the other hits that skyway road we did last year. Run the risk of less chaos.

Might be a good idea, less risk of a casualty. We wouldn't want anyone to get hurt or lose their car (which is very easy to do if you aren't a skilled driver).
Also, beware of damp pavement or you may end up like this...

This happened the day after the meet last year and everyone felt really bad for this member, thankfully he and his passenger weren't seriously hurt.

I was just visiting the Tapoco Lodge website. They shows pics of a mini Meet, and I saw the banner they had. Just wondering if were going to have an 8thCivic Dragon Meet Banner. That would look nice when your driving into the lodge. Just a thought, seeing if maybe anyones got a hook up on banners.

Yeah, I think 2 groups would be best. I'm pretty sure Cookstar has that in mind.

Ill see what I can do. My cousin, in Spain, runs a decal, screenprinting store. Since my parents are going to Spain mid Feb. I might be able to get banner made up. Either a cloth type banner with screenprinting on it or a vinyl type banner with decal lettering(like the one in the mini meet pic)

DESIGN IDEAS

a cool-looking dragon with the dragon holding (in it's mouth) onto the top circle of an "8". Resting on/in/inside the loop the bottom circle of the "8", put in the text "8thCivic". Also get some flames in there as well. AND/OR have the dragon sitting on the outline of a Civic, like he is going for a ride. (hahahaaha)

Or have a mural type of thing, draw a twisty road with an outline of a civic coupe (& sedan? ...one following each other maybe), then have a dragon chasing behind breathing fire at the cars. Have a chain around the neck of the dragon with a name tag (like you would for a pet) with "8thCivic" on it.

In the map below, Fontana Dam is out NC-28. I hope to go from there to Tellico Plains, TN for lunch.

Following the photo session at the dam, I've thought about sending one group one way and the other group the other way on the Dragon-Cherohala Skyway loop and meeting in Tellico Plains, TN. My reservations about this option are there are turn-offs and stoplights after completing the Dragon making it necessary to stop regularly to make sure everyone is together. Also, I found much of this route following the Dragon somewhat boring. Plus, those cars going one route could get arrive in Tellico Plains much earlier than the other group.

I was talking to sbigshot last week and his idea was to just have everyone take the Skyway there and back. It's a much simpler way to get to Tellico Plains than going by way of the Dragon. We could go from Fontana Dam to Robbinsville, find a good stopping place there, and get on NC-143. Afterwards, there are pretty much no turn-offs or stops until you get to Tellico Plains. NC-143 becomes TN-165 once you cross the state line. On the way back, members could stop at the overlooks at their leisure. There will be plenty of time for driving the Dragon on Thursday, Friday, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday.

I prefer the second option.

I've got several questions about doing a picnic:
  • What are we going to eat?
  • Are we going to grill?
  • Who will do the cooking if we grill?
  • How much food do we need?
  • How much money do we need to collect from each person to purchase the food?
A picnic would definitely be our Friday night meal if it would occur. Personally, I would rather leave preparing food for large groups to those people who do it for a living. However, if there is anyone who is willing to take this task on, I'm willing to listen.

There is a Subway in Robbinsville. I've had an idea to get them to make some trays of sandwiches for us for our Friday dinner. Again, you run into the problem of collecting money from the group. Also, we would have to have a good idea ahead of time how many people we would be feeding.

hey cook i have a suggestion :)

why dont you contact webby or 2fast and have them creat DEALS GAP as a seperate forum section.
Making you and Nomar the mods for it

So you can maint the meet... update the posts and edit appropriate content for it

Only giving you abilities for that specific section.

It would make this easier to navigate etc etc.
